TW maybe... Unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Charlie quickly got dressed and slipped out the front door that belonged to the stranger he just had sex with.

He felt numb, he had promised Nick he wouldn't but he didn't know how to stop. Sleeping with strangers had become his new form of self harm. It was an addiction.

Nick was gorgeous and so lovely. It was obvious he really liked Charlie but even that wasn't enough. It was an itch he couldn't scratch, a permanent nagging feeling he could only get rid of by finding a stranger to sleep with.

But now, after, he felt a crushing sense of guilt. He knew he didn't deserve someone like Nick but he wouldn't stay away. Nick was his other addition. He was so hot and blew Charlie's mind in the bedroom. He had to give up one but he didn't know which.

"Fancy a film night at mine on Saturday? Elle will be there and she's bringing her friends Tara and Darcy." Tao said as he sat down next to Charlie in maths.
"Can Nick come?" Charlie asked nervously.
"Are things going well with you two then?"
"Yeah." Charlie said, not looking at him.
"And have you stopped?"
"Yes." Charlie lied.
"Charlie..." Tao pressed.
"Yes, I promised him I would. Can he come?"
"Yeah, sure."

Charlie hated having to lie, to Tao and especially to Nick but he didn't know what else to do. He lived in fear of getting found out and losing Nick.

Charlie walked out of the school gates and was shocked to see Nick, leaning against his car with his arms folded and smiling at him.
"What are you doing here?" Charlie giggled as he walked up to Nick and hugged him.
"Not happy to see me then?" Nick teased as he hugged Charlie back tight.
"Of course I am." Charlie whispered, nuzzling into his neck.
"Come on then." Nick said softly, letting go of Charlie and opening the passenger door.

When they got back to Nick's house, they cuddled on the sofa. Nick was being so affectionate and lovely but Charlie was unable to enjoy. The guilt of what he was doing what eating him alive.

Charlie's phone was on the sofa next to him, in full view of Nick and when it buzzed he instinctively flipped it over.
"Charlie?" Nick asked, pulling away from him slightly.
"Yeah?" Charlie breathed.
"Is there something on your phone you don't want me seeing?" Nick asked calmly.

Charlie didn't answer, he just stared at his lap as tears began to prickle behind his eyes.
"You're still sleeping around, aren't you?" Nick asked, moving away from him.

Charlie still didn't answer him, he felt like he couldn't breathe.
"Charlie!" Nick shouted.

Charlie jumped and then nodded slowly, unable to look at him.

"I'm such a fucking idiot." Nick whispered.
"I'm so sorry." Charlie said shakily.
"Get out." Nick snarled.
"Nick..." Charlie whispered.
"I said get out! I never wanna see you again!"

Charlie stood up and quickly left Nick's house as he started to cry. He felt disgusting and numb. Nick was amazing in every way possible and all Charlie had done was hurt him.
