To be honest, Paulie had struggled to pick up his feet from the pavement. It was late, he just separated from Tom after their work. Turned out that Salieri was basically an ugly liar and have been plotting behind their backs. Paulie couldn't stop thinking about the danger they were playing with. If bulls found the dope in their hands, it would be over. They would just rot in cell.

He clenched his teeth, the anger was burning him alive. He was just pissed at Salieri but not only. At Sam, too. He was acting all loyal and shit, playing it safe. Paulie could smell how Sam's pants wet from fear of the don.

"Fucking idiot," he hissed through his teeth.

Tommy was also not really bought on the Paulie's robbing bank idea. He was trying his best but at the end of the day... How could he ask him of such a thing? He had a wife and a child - the two things Paulie desperately needed.

He wanted love, he needed a hug. A tight one, to curl in and cry out everything he was holding inside him.

He suddenly felt bad, his heart ached. How could he ask Tommy to do something so dangerous? To betray the don? They could get themselves killed, right one the spot. He ran through his hair with fingers and sighed. He had to calm down.

And his apartment was the worst place to do so.

He wasn't in the mood for whores and fucking. It was not the day. That's why he chose the nearest bar. Yup, a drink or two could cure his broken spirit.

"Whiskey on the rocks," he yelled to the bartender as soon as he sit at the counter.

There were so many people, he wasn't able to hear his thoughts - which was perfect. He took the cold glass and drank it to the bottom in one second.

"One more," he said, not even letting the bartender to turn around.

The second one was gone even faster and that felt so good. It really cured his soul. When he emptied the third one, he heard a sweet voice not so far away from him.

"Woah, slow down, cowboy. You've just sit down."

He turned his head to the direction from which the voice was coming from. Then his heart stopped. God, she was beautiful, astonishing. She immediately played the string in him which was silent for so so long.

Long, unbelievable long and wavy blond hair and dark eyes hypnotized him like a magic. She was unreal, nobody had long hair these times. Every girl was cutting them short. He missed women with the long ones.

"Sorry, what was that?" he asked, rising his eyebrows.

The girl laughed warmly because he clearly was in shock. One guy was sitting between them but he didn't pay any attention. He was already long gone.

"You may slow down with these babies," she said, showing the glass in his hand. "It's not healthy."

"Says the girl sitting at the bar with a glass in her hand," he answered jokingly.

"Hey, it's my first one today," she raised her hands with a smirk.

Paulie looked away because he felt as shyness is building in him. He cleared his throat and gave her a hand to introduce himself.

"I'm Paulie."

She took his hand and then he knew that they will spend the night together. Her skin was delicate, soft and warm.

"Rita," she smiled.

Her name rang in his head for a long time.

"Do you have any plans after..." he asked but his tongue was not cooperating with him at all. He was never so sloppy with girls. He found it a bit embarrassing. He remembered why he was in a bad mood. "Do you wanna go somewhere where it's... quiet?"

She emptied her glass and got up.

"Better to take you out of here, huh?" she said with a smirk and approached the coats hanging on the wall. "Where do you wanna go?" she asked when she stood in front of him.

He couldn't take his eyes off from her hair. He wanted to touch them, rub them with his fingers, play with them. Hide under them and die. "Anywhere," he answered looking away. He held the door for her.
