Chapter Two

LILY'S POV:

"Lily!" I heard my father shout, and I tucked my wand in a pocket, and I grabbed my suitcases. "You have no sense of time." Snape said, shaking his head, and I couldn't help but grin.

I pushed the trolley full of suitcases along the busy train station, dad had opted for taking the cloak off, as I had happily pointed out he looked weird walking around the muggle world in his teaching clothes.

The black bird shifted its wings within the cage - a very beautiful one may I add - and I smiled. I still needed a name for him.

We came to Platform 9, and we stood in front of a wall, I leaned slightly against the trolley, and dad turned towards me. "See you on the other side."

He said bluntly, he swept his cloak over his shoulders as he walked, striding towards the wall and vanishing, his cloak trailing behind him.

"Well, wasn't that hot." A bubbly girl voice said from behind me, and I turned sharply to see a mouse-brown haired girl grinning at me.

"Fancy running with me?" She asked, pushing her trolley so she was next to me.

"Yeah, sure." I said shrugging, and she grinned.

"Perfect, let's get on with it then." She said, and we ran for the wall, disappearing into it.

I slowed to a walk as we got onto the platform, Snape nodded at me before disappearing like usual, and I looked around slowly, trying to figure out where to go.

I watched the scenery pass by out the window, the door clicking slightly as we went. There was a knock on the door, and the girl from earlier poked her head in. "Mind if I?" she gestured to the seat next to me and I nodded.

"Thanks. I'm Cadee, Cadee Coleman."

"Lily. Lily Lestrange." I say, expecting the 'Lestrange..? Oh.. uh. As in..? I have somewhere to be, sorry' but I got none. Surprising.

A trolley lady came past "Anything from the trolley, dears?" She said sweetly, and I see Cadee eyeing the bag of jelly tots. "Liquorice wands please, and jelly tots." I said, handing her some coins. I passed Cadee the jelly, and smiled.

"What did you mean when you said something about being hot earlier?" I ask as we start eating the sweets.

"Oh! The man in the cloak." She giggled, and I stared at her blankly, choosing to ignore the fact that she thought my dad was hot.

The train whistle blew, and I got my robe out, putting it over my shoulders as it darkened outside and we neared Hogwarts.

By the time we got there, it was dark, and as we got off the train, I spotted a light up ahead as the crowd started to form. "This way to the boats, right then, follow me." A voice said loudly, and we started to move towards water.

I stepped into the boat, and it wobbled slightly as me and Cadee sat down. The boat floated effortlessly across the water, and I couldn't help but smile as we neared the castle.

Lights illuminated the building, and the moon hung low in the clouds, making it look even more beautiful.

We walked up the stairs, me and Cadee were pretty near the front, so we came to a stop quite quickly in front of a witch dressed in a green robe.

"Welcome to Hogwarts!" She said in a kind voice. "Now, in a few moments you will pass through these doors and join your class mates - but before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor. Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw. And Slytherin."

"Now whilst you're here. Your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points, any rule breaking, and will lose you points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup-"

She was interrupted by a sudden voice shouting "Trevor!!" And a boy rushed forward, picking up a toad. Some people chuckled, me and Cadee looked at each other, grinning. "Sorry.." he mumbled, backing into the crowd.

"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." She finished, walking towards the doors.

"It's true then, what they were saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." A voice suddenly cut out, and we all turned to see a blonde boy, leaning against the wall.

"This is Crabbe, and Goyle, and I'm Malfoy." He said. Of course a Malfoy. "Draco Malfoy."

Malfoy continued talking to Potter, and I looked at what was happening. Draco offered his hand, and Potter turned it down. I narrowed my eyes.

"We're ready for you now. Follow me." The witch returned, a slight smile on her face and we followed her into a hall.

As we were lead to a table, there was a hat sat on a chair, presumably the sorting hat. As Professor Dumbledore made an announcement, I found my father, sat at a table, looking as unhappy as ever.

I raise my eyebrows at the announcement. How... lovely. "Now when I call your name, you will come forth, I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses."

The sorting ceremony goes on for while, until Harry Potter is called. The hat does a lot of debating until it finally calls "Gryffindor!!"

Everything silences when I get called, and strange looks go around the room. Even when the professor called the name, there's a slight pause. I go up, sitting down.

"Ah, a Lestrange, it's been a long while since I've seen one of these, ah yes...Your mother was a powerful witch, she could do great things, yes... Of course naturally there is no better place than Slytherin!!" It calls and I sigh relieved.

I sit down next to Malfoy and he looks me up and down, I glare at him and I swear I can see a faint smirk on his face as he looks away.

"Cadee Coleman," she calls, and I turn to see her sit down. It almost immediately says Slytherin, and I narrow my eyes, the only other person it did that to was... no..

She sits down next to me, and we start the feast, talking about the new houses. I don't say much, but I know someone was looking at me, I could feel it. And I didn't like it.
