Season 2 Chapter 34. Goku vs Vegeta

The three then walk out from the forest and make it back to where everyone else is they are all shocked to see that Goku has made it back in time and a feeling of relief washes over them as they relax just like Erza. Fried looks over at Vegeta with an intense glare as he throws Nappa's head at him and it lands at Vegeta's feet. The Saiyan looks down at his comrade's head and feels no way about his death.

Vegeta: So you all managed to beat Nappa, eh?

Goku looks around the battlefield and sees the scattered corpses of his friends as his bangs cover his eyes.

Vegeta: What have you come all this way for, Kakarot? Don't tell me you're here to tell some nonsensical joke, such as you've come to defeat me, or something.

Goku grits his teeth at Vegeta's endless talking as Vegeta's scouter picks up that Goku's battle power is growing higher.

However, instead of immediately jumping at Vegeta, Goku turns his back to the Saiyan which irritates him as he walks over to his remaining friends.

Goku: You guys. Sorry, I'm late. Way to hang on, everyone. Each of you eat one of these.

Goku gets on his knee and takes out the bag of Senzu Beans that Korin gave him as he gives one to each of his friends.

Gray: I-Isn't that a senzu bean?

Goku: Yeah, he still had a few left. There might not be enough to go around so some of you might have to share.

Erza: Th-Then you keep them.

Goku: That's all right. I ate one before I came.

Erza: N-No, you save it in case you need it.

Goku: Don't worry needlessly. If you don't eat it, I'm throwing it away.

Erza gives in to Goku as Makarov tells everyone to eat the beans as they do so reluctantly. The senzu beans' healing properties kick in as all the injuries everyone sustained during the battle vanish as if they were never there in the first place. Everyone soon rises from the ground as Wendy and Gajeel are shocked by this.

Gajeel: I feel brand new.

Wendy: It's like I didn't even get in a fight in the first place.

Goku stands up on his feet as he can tell from sensing his friends' ki that they are much stronger than the last time he saw them.

Goku: *amazed* Amazing. You guys have gotten a lot stronger, huh? I can tell by your ki.

Piccolo: I thought I had but to no avail. I'm no use against them. They're too strong.

Natsu balls his hand into a fist and punches the ground out of anger as the deaths of his friends flash in his eyes.

Natsu: I-I just stood by and let everyone else die. I'm a joke!

Gray: *angry* Don't hog all of the glory, flame-for-brains. I was just as useless as a rock in this fight. I wasn't able to do anything to that oversized gorilla! I'm a failure!

Lucy: *crying* Y-You guys... Now's not the time to be arguing.

Gray & Natsu: *shouting* Then when is the time?!

Natsu and Gray's outburst frighten Wendy as she goes behind Piccolo to hide since this is the first time she's ever seen them both so angry.

Suddenly, everyone hears rustling coming from the bushes as they quickly turn to it and keep their guard up.

Gray: Someone's there.

Erza: Show yourself!

Two figures soon emerge from the bushes as it is revealed to be Cana who was holding up Juvia.
