Raden was seated behind his desk, looking at the recent reports.
His fingers curled around the handle of his favorite mug and brought it up to his mouth. The nice taste of coffee made him feel at ease. His shoulders relaxed.
Outside it was raining cats and dogs.
The sun hiding behind the hundreds of sad clouds. The telephone on his desk rang, he stared at it for a few seconds before answering.
"Hello?" He listened, but on the other side were only ragged breaths.
"Hello?""Detective Raden, are you there?"
"What's the matter?"
"I just received another phone call..."
Raden waited for Klaus to continue.
"It said, if I want to live I should get rid of further law reinforcements..."
"Where are you right now?"
"I'm heading home"
"Okay. Stay alert Klaus, I'll contact you later"
"Okay"
Raden placed down the phone and took out his one.
He scratched his head and texted Nicholas. They know about us.
Raden felt the bang of annoyance deep down in his heart.
He didn't like the fact of being the reason someone else's life was at stake because of him.
He's used to it being the other way around. He took a sticky note and wrote on it:
I need to buy more coffee.
💀💀
Raden opened the door to his house, throwing the keys on the table beside the door.
His first instinct was to grab a cup of water and then make coffee afterwards.
He even made a quick dinner for himself.
There was a loud knock on his door, almost desperate.
He opened it and looked down at Astoria.
"Hello"
"Can I come in please?"
Raden nodded and stepped aside to allow her in. He closed the door and turned to look at her curiously.
"Lock the door too, please"
He watched her as he did so.
"May I ask what brought you here in such an urgent state?""I was being followed"
He led her into the kitchen to give her a glass of water.
"And you ran all this way?"
"Yes"
'So she knows where I live now... Or she could've seen my car. What's she doing out here this late?'
He thought to himself, but most definitely wasn't planning on asking her these questions. She seemed too frightened and stressed. Her cheeks were red and her clothes were half drenched.
"Do you want a cup of hot chocolate? Something warm perhaps?"
"That would be nice, thank you." She gave a tiny smile.
He pulled out another cup and started making her the hot chocolate.
He placed it in front of her and went off to return with a fluffy blanket. He checked his phone for any messages from Nicotine.
They were planning on going to the phone booth Klaus was at this afternoon.
