As overwhelmingly decided by the Discord server, the American Revolution succeeds against the British, securing their independence!

I'm sure we all know the story. After the Seven Years' War, the British Empire raised taxes to an exorbitant amounts to help start paying off their debts. After many tax acts, the American colonists got angrier & angrier, as they had never been taxed directly by the British Crown up until then. So angry the colonists were, the Crown stationed mass amounts of British troops across the Thirteen Colonies, which only served to anger the colonists even more. The tenseness was so thick across the colonies, you could cut it with a knife. Or a bullet. On December 16, 1773, a bunch of independence-minded Patriots dressed up as Amerindians, and dumped tea from a British ship in Boston Harbor in protest of high tea taxes. This only served to have King George III inject the Thirteen Colonies with even more troops. The colonists were oppressed.

Twelve out of the Thirteen Colonies wrote up a Petition to the King in order to try and convince him to repeal the dreaded taxes. Alas, the Petition fell onto deaf ears.

In April of 1775, the first battle of the Revolutionary War occurred. In the cities of Concord & Lexington, shots were fired from American Minutemen & British Redcoats. Support for American independence increased drastically after Thomas Paine released "Common Sense", essentially saying that if a Government won't give you your basic rights, you better find another Government! Though other things also pushed the colonists towards independence.

And so, on July 4, 1776, representatives from all of the Thirteen Colonies came together to release the Declaration of Independence. As you can tell from it's name, the document declared America as an independent nation from the British Crown. And thus, the United States of America was created.

And so, many battles were fought & won, one of the key wins being the Battle of Saratoga, which inspired the people that even though they were fighting against the largest power in the world, they could maybe, just maybe, win. A few battles were fought to try to secure Canada & some Caribbean territories, to no avail. But, with the help of the French, German, & Amerindian allies, the American forces were able to win the Revolutionary War, securing America as a free, independent nation.

Now that the Nation was free & independent, they had to choose a leader. It was obvious who'd they pick, but he didn't want to run! It was, of course, General George Washington, who led the former colonists to many victories during the War. Eventually, though, Congress was able to convince Washington to run for President in the first Presidential Election; in 1788. He easily won.

Although reluctant to assume the office of Presidency, Washington still gave the job his all, and damn did he do a good job at it

Although reluctant to assume the office of Presidency, Washington still gave the job his all, and damn did he do a good job at it. He created the Departments of State, Treasury, & a Department of Indian Affairs. He won the Presidential Election of 1792 with ease.

Many key Departments and Governmental bodies were created under Washington's two terms; too many to list here! Now, all that was well & good, but the assumed successor to Washington, his Vice President John Adams, suffered an accident that left him unable to possibly carry out the duties of the office of President. Now the thoughts on everyone's mind was "Who's going to run now?"
