It’s for charity. To help him rise up the rankings faster.
That’s what Katsuki had to remind himself as he walked the halls of the Tokyo cancer center, saying hi to all the patients and giving them hope. It’s not like it’s horrible, but looking at those sick kids, seeing many of them that looked so… tired and empty, made him want to run as fast as possible from the building and never look back.
“Cheer up, man! Look at all the happy faces that are glad we are here!” Kirishima says, patting him on the back with a big smile as a group of kids with a few nurses come over to ask for an autograph.
Katsuki tries his best to smile and look like he wants to be there, he really does, but for a man that’s never hid his distaste for something, it was harder than he thought, and he had a feeling the adults were noticing.
“Let’s just get this over with. I’ll meet you out front when we can leave.” Katsuki grunts to the other man as he makes his way through the hospital alone.
He hadn’t been walking long when he noticed some people standing around a table in the art center. One man sat at the table, while a group of teens watched whatever he was doing.
Curious, Katsuki decided to get closer, wanting to know what was so cool that it had everyone in the room looking over the man’s shoulder. The closer he got the more the man started to look familiar, a memory tapping at the back of his mind.
The man was wearing dark green scrubs with a black head scarf, hands crooked and scarred, pointing at whatever was in front of him.
When Katsuki was about 10 feet away from the table, someone finally noticed him and let out a gasp, drawing everyone's attention.
“Pro Hero Dynamight!” A teen shouted, smiling as he ran over to the started blonde. Soon everyone was in front of him, all except the man. Scarlet eyes watch the man stand before going wide in shock.
“Everyone, take a step back, and one at a time. Don’t want to overwhelm the poor man.” Izuku chuckles, meeting Katsuki’s glassy eyes with a warm smile.
Without taking his eyes off the small quirkless man for more than a second, Katsuki rushes to sign what the kids give him before coming to stand before the smiling greenette he used to bully and hasn’t seen in over 10 years.
“Long time no see, huh, Kacchan.” Izuku says, trying to stay calm. This was the last place he ever expected to see Katsuki and he was incredibly nervous, but he stood his ground.
“Deku, what… what are you doing here?” Katsuki knew the answer to his question, the scarf around the once head of green curls showing exactly why he was there, but he needed to hear it from Izuku.
“Come with me.” Izuku says, taking the blonde’s hand and leading him out of the room and down the hallway, not that Katsuki noticed. Finally, they came to a door, with the name plate beside it reading ‘Midoriya, Izuku.’ The hero’s heart stops in his chest realizing his fear was correct. Izuku is a patient here.
For a hospital room, the room was actually quite cozy and looked more like a dorm room, except for the medical equipment around the head of Izuku’s bed. Slowly, Katsuki walks into the room, looking around and seeing lots of the nerd’s old hero merch and pictures of family, and to the blonde’s great surprise, him.
“You can sit on the couch.” Izuku says, drawing Katsuki’s attention away from his memories to the greenette sitting on his bed, motioning for him to sit on the couch along the far wall. Not saying a word, he listens, taking a seat. “It’s good to see you. I’ve kept tabs on your hero career. Well, of course you can tell that with the news clippings and pictures.” Izuku says, laughing anxiously, trying to lighten the mood. He could already feel his face heating up from the intense stare the blonde was giving him.
