Secrets of the Blossom

Chapter 4

Huai En hears a growling sound and realizes it is coming from him. He takes a deep breath and tries to regain his control before he crosses the distance between them and rips the other alpha to pieces for daring to touch his omega.

He had rushed back only to find Xiao Bao being pinned down by another alpha. Then the omega had dared to smile at him like he was happy to see him. Huai En still feels rage at this.

"Who are you?" The other alpha says, even though he had clearly heard Xiao Bao call his name. "What right do you have to be here on this estate?" He was clearly challenging Huai En. Xiao Bao puts a calming hand on the other alpha's shoulder and Huai En feels his gaze drawn to that hand.

"I came for what's mine." Huai En growls.

"What belongs to you here?" The other alpha narrows his eyes and pushes Xiao Bao behind him.

Xiao Bao huffs at this treatment, "Stop it, Su Yin, this is Huai En."

Su Yin, so this was the grandson of the prince of Li. The one who his grandfather had bypassed his own children, including the boy's parents, for and made his direct heir instead. Obviously, not someone to be underestimated. He would make a powerful enemy, but that didn't mean that Huai En would let him stand between himself and the omega.

Xiao Bao ignores Su Yin's effort to hold him back and crosses the grounds to stand in front of Huai En smiling at him. He lifts his hand to touch Huai En's cheek, but Huai En jerks his head backwards. Xiao Bao takes no notice of this and only says, "You came, you are finally here. I waited for you."

Huai En has to take another deep breath, is this what the omega calls waiting? He can even smell the other alpha on him. He turns with a sweep of his sleeve and stalks off, expecting the omega to follow him.

"Nothing has changed," Su Yin calls out to Xiao Bao. "You are still not allowed to leave this estate, especially not with him." Huai En resists the urge to ask Su Yin what gives him the right to give his omega orders, but he doesn't even look back.

Xiao Bao sighs loudly behind him and yells back, "We aren't going to leave, I just need to talk to Huai En."

Huai En wonders what makes the omega so confident. If he didn't have a mission to fulfill, he would grab Xiao Bao and take him wherever he wanted to and no one in the Jin family would be able to stop him.

Xiao Bao moves beside him to show him the way to his residence, but when he tries to take Huai En's arm, the alpha jerks it out of his grasp.

This time Xiao Bao gives him a hurt look. "Huai En what's wrong?"

"I don't want that other alpha's smell on my clothes." Huai En says truthfully.

Xiao Bao looks confused for a minute and even stops and sniffs his hands. Then he realizes. "Su Yin? But Su Yin is like a brother to me, we grew up together."

Huai En whirls on him, "You two didn't look very brotherly just now." He says.

"Huai En, listen, I can explain. I attacked him because I was so mad he wouldn't tell me anything about you. Su Yin was retaliating because he knows I hate to be tickled. He likes to use it to torture me, he has since we were children. That's all it was." Xiao Bao gives him a look that begs him to believe him. "I only asked because I was worried. You left that morning without a word and I thought you would come for me. When you didn't return, I was worried something had happened to you."

Huai En pauses, the words cooling his anger. "You were worried about me?"

"Of course, I was worried. You hadn't even recovered from being attacked and I didn't know what had happened to you. You are my mate; how could I not worry?" Xiao Bao says. "Why did you leave?"
