(Yuki's POV)
"Pierre, what happened?"
"What do you remember?"
"Doesn't matter, just tell me Pierre," I was started to get annoyed, why won't people just tell me what happened?
"You and I were driving back to the airport and some guy ran a red light and crashed into us,"
I didn't know what to say. I mean what do you say when someone tells you that kind of thing?
"So I'll take it I've been asleep for a while then?" I say motioning to his race suit.
"Yeah, I have a lot to catch you up on..."
"Oh yeah, like what?"
"You were flown to Japan for treatment, Danny's getting replaced after the next race, I moved to Japan, met your parents, came to visit you every day aka as much as I could with racing, oh and just won Suzuka,"
"Wow, that's... a lot to unpack,"
"Yeah and to think, there only the main things that happened,"
The smile on his face slowing disappearing to leave his face blank. Our eyes being caught in a staring contest.
"Yuki..." Pierre starts, placing his hand on the side of my face, his thumb stroking my cheek, "I missed you so, so, so much. Everyday was so much harder than it needed to be. Not knowing if, or when, you would wake up was killing me. Worse part is, I blame myself for all of this, all because I had a surprise for you back in Milan. If we didn't need to be back at the airport, we would still both be racing,"
Disputed his worse about himself being so harsh, there was this kind of beauty to it. A beauty that let Pierre be vulnerable knowing that he wouldn't be judged, but heard.
Yet even in a moment like this, I felt something pull me towards him. As if on cue, him and I both lean in. Millimetres apart and hot breath on each other lips.
However, just before the last step could be taken, the door was fired open, its hinges screeching from the sudden violent outburst.
Thankfully, all of the reflex train allowed us to react in time. Pierre quickly jumped back and I managed to get myself in a convincing position, making it look like we were just having a conversation. The only outliers was the faint blush on Pierre's, and assumably my, cheeks.
(For the sake of this, please pretend it's in Japanese)
"Yuki! We came as soon as we could!"
"Mum? Dad?"
"Yes dear?"
"How did you get here so quickly?"
"Well why don't you ask your..." my dad trailed off while motioning towards Pierre.
"Teammate. Sorry, ex-teammate," as much as I hated to say it, I had to.
I know they support me being gay, but if I even leave a hint of it anywhere, they'll know.
Upon hearing his name, Pierre turns his attention back to the three of us.
(Okay, now they'll speak in English)
"Pierre, what did you do?"
"What do you mean?" He seams genuinely confused.
"My parents live 2 hours away from the closest hospital, and I know that I have been awake for that long. So how did they get here so fast?" My words clear and sharp.
He lets out a a deep sigh before he says anything.
"So you know how I said I moved to Japan and met your parents? Well we kept in contact quite a bit, and they were really concerned that if something happened to you they wouldn't be able to get here in time. So I may or may not have been paying for them to stay in a hotel near here," he sounds like a little kid, trying to explain why they were caught with lollies late at night.
