"Dream?" Tommy repeated, not believing what he had just heard.
"What kind of a stupid-shit name is that?"

"That's not-" Karl blinked. "Don't say that! You can't! It's dangerous."

"Why?"

"The King of Hearts has eyes everywhere. He knows what happens around the kingdom." Alyssa explained.
"So this place has a ruler as well?" Ranboo frowned.
"Of course." Conner's gaze was wide. "He lives past the forest, in a huge mansion by those huge bramble walls and the massive willow trees."

Tommy felt that everything was just ridiculously gigantic in this place - like big mushrooms hello?- and he really wanted to question the other boy about it,
but then he caught Ranboo shooting him a disapproving look, and stayed quiet grumpily.
Oh, fine, Ranboo. Act like that, why don't you?

"Can you give us directions to get there?" Ranboo was asking Callahan now. "We're really worried about him."
Yes, worried. So very, very worried. Tommy inwardly rolled his eyes. Way to go, Ranboo.

"I don't think we can," Tina said, sounding apologetic. "I'm sorry."
"That's true." Alyssa informed them.
"We have strict policies- rules, in this place. Nobody is actually allowed to give any information or direction to anyone."

"I don't see how that makes any sense," said Ranboo bluntly. "What if people get lost?"
"Nonsense," Karl said. "Who would get lost here?"
Ranboo blinked, tactfully changed the subject. "Besides that, our friend is roaming around unprotected, and we really need to find him and get out of here."
Tommy nodded confirmation. "That's right." He said, shooting Ranboo a grateful look.

But the others only exchanged confused glances.
"Well, what do you mean?" Conner asked. "Find a way out of what? The forest?
I mean, that's easy, just retrace your steps and follow the-"
he cut off sheepishly as Alyssa punched him angrily, her eyes narrowed in warning.

"No, not the forest," cut in Tommy, feeling a surge of impatience at the secrecy.
"This whole place. We fell down a rabbit hole chasing after our idiot friend and ended up in a room with doors everywhere."
And curtains.
Maybe he hoped to see the relieving spark of recognition flicker across faces, but blankness met him, apart from Callahan's normal subdued air.
He seemed to have retreated into a world of his own, and had refused to answer Ranboo's questions before.

"Doors?" Tina repeated doubtfully. "That doesn't sound credible."
And I suppose giant mushrooms do! Tommy glanced at her other friends' expressions, but Karl looked bemused; Alyssa merely bored; and Conner had a funny, puzzled frown on his face.
Did none of them remember how they'd ended up here?

Tommy noticed Ranboo, whose own face was a mix of terror and wild confusion. His eyes were wider than moons.
"Uh, I need to speak to my friend for a moment." Tommy said, grabbing Ranboo's arm and dragging him across to the other end of the clearing.

Behind him, he could hear Alyssa rounding on Callahan, disapproval dripping from her tone.
"Why did you tell that Tubbo person anything? You know we're not allowed to give information."

"Hey, now," Karl protested. "That's pretty harsh. Leave it. I'm sure he had a good reason to do so."
Their conversation quietened, and Tommy, unable to hear anything else, turned back to Ranboo.
"You look like you've seen a ghost," he told the boy.

"I don't understand," Ranboo mumbled. "Why can't they remember anything?
How else would they have come here if not for that rabbit hole? It went down for so long, are we actually underground?"
He was anxiously rubbing one arm as he spoke.
"But there's a sky! I'm sure skies don't exist below the earth."
