An Ocean of Sorrows

As clear as the rainfall,

So fresh is your pain.

As young as a birdling,

And as old as the rain.

You were born to a mother,

Human like you.

The child of a father,

Your life full of rue.

A world of agony,

The only you've known.

A delicate body,

Made of flesh of bone.

You were born just a child,

The misery disguised.

And in this dark world,

You only saw light.

Your face in a smile,

You walked down your path.

You were met with a challenge,

And you shattered like glass.

The older you grew,

The wiser you became.

The longer you'd lived,

The more you knew pain.

You wished not for death,

In fact, you longed for more days.

Yet you wished not for misery,

For a life of dismay.

You wished for the future,

One filled with delight.

But met with the end,

No joy was in sight.

Cry me an ocean,

A sea of sorrows.

And in it,

May you find a better tomorrow.
