Chapter One: In the night

~Kyler's POV~

The paws pounding against the ground from the other wolves is all you could hear through out the midnight run. A bit of heavy panting here and growls there. All was almost quiet. It was abnormal. Ever since Blake died its been quiet in the pack. Ever since that night.

We stopped in a field to rest as we all gathered and parked our furry asses on the ground. We went through business as usual just without Blake. Poor Blake! I could've done something but I didn't. I laid there in pain like a wimp. A big hairy wimp.

We chatted for a while then began to run again. The pace picked up as it grew late. The wind in your fur and the feel of soft green grass is all it took to wipe the sorrow away.

Let's talk about me! My name is Kyler! Last name is McDowell. I am twenty nine years old and I am a high school German language teacher. I am around five foot nine and weight around one hundred and fifty pounds.

I have dark brown hair that's almost black and blue eyes. I have facial hair stubble I shave off but it comes right back. Last is that I wear glasses. They are squared and rounded at the bottom but straight at the top. Like the glasses Justin Timberlake wears in the movie 'Bad Teacher'.

In wolf I am at least one hundred and ninety pounds and I'm as tall as a full grown German Shepherd Dog. I have black fur with white toes, white tail tip, white underbelly, white eyebrows, and white around my muzzle connecting to my white underbelly. Some say I am the handsomest wolf out there!

We reached the end of the run and we all said our goodbyes and turned to go home till another day. I walked north from the park we meet at and separate after wards. I live near where I work which is really nice. 2784 sw Wolf lane! Both ironic and funny considering what I am. I trotted down the street in the shadows making sure I'm not seen. Practically everyone that lives on this street hunts and won't give a shit for shooting me!

I slipped through the dog door if my house in the back yard to avoid trouble with using paws to open a door. Even though I didn't have a dog it helps me in this sense of getting in my own house.

I walked up the stairs and into my bedroom. I climbed into the fancy dog bed I bought for myself and dozed of to sleep.

In the morning I awakened and stretched out from the curled position I slept in all night. I was my regular self just butt naked. As usual.

I got up and stretched again then walked to my dresser. I put on my glasses laying on the dresser and began to get dressed for work.

I slipped on my light blue undershirt and my black underwear. I searched through my dresser and pulled out my black and aqua checkered button up shirt and threw that on. I picked up my tan kaki pants from off the chair and put those on as well.

I walked into the bathroom and fixed up my hair and brushed my teeth. All the usual bathroom stuff. I walked out and grabbed my dark grey tie and fixed that around my neck. The last thing to do dress wise was socks and shoes.

I walked down stairs to the front door with my black and green plaid socks to go with my shoes. I grabbed my shoes and sat on my couch in the living room and began putting my socks on. I finished and slipped in and tied my formal brown shoes and clipped my teachers I.D. card to my pocket.

I grabbed my tan and pale blue duffle bag and car keys then headed out the door. I walked up to my beloved car the hybrid Toyota Prius. I hopped in my car started it and drove out of my driveway.

I drove down 29th and Wanamaker till I got to Fairlawn. I took Fairlawn all the way to work. I am a German language teacher for Kansas State High School. It was a pretty fun job all in all. I was a newish teacher. I had been there last year and now this year. It's a quarter way through school and I already have a headache.

I parked and hopped back out and started walking inside. There were a few teachers I hope I don't see but sometimes do. That's a small list but I really don't like them!

There's Katie Hillerson the seventh grade math teacher. I think she's a lesbian but that's not the bothersome part. Then Garry Fordsing. He's the music teacher for every grade. He's got mental issues cause he ain't normal! Last is the worst. His name is Bret Taringer. I'm not going to even talk about him!

I walked into the office to pick up anything in my mail box if anything was even there. Nothing was there so I turned and walked to my room. It's room 141 and the name tag below says 'McDowell'.

I grabbed my keys and opened the door only to walk in on a disaster left from last Friday. I began to straighten up the desks and erased everything on the board. I fixed up my desk and situated myself then logged myself into Power Teacher. It's a website that teachers use to access info on students, get notice on things going on, and other stuff like entering grades.

I had a long bit of time till class started and I get bored easy. I got up and walked to the teachers lounge to get some coffee. I walked into the room and made my way to the coffee maker. I poured the steaming hot coffee into my mug then started to walk back when Jacob Earlsin the principal walked up to me.

"Hey Kyler!"

"Hey" I said back.

"Just so you know your going to have a new student in your class Kyler!"

"Ok what block?"

"Third block!"

"Ok thanks"

"Yep and she's a foreign trade student from Germany so this will be fun for you" he said as he began walking off.

I turned around and began to fix my coffee not thinking much of the new student. I put in three creams and three sugars like normal and walked off.

I shuffled through the halls just mindlessly wandering around with no point in it. I stopped as my wolf side took over and I smelled a smell never sniffed before! It was strange and yet familiar at the same time. I never felt so strange yet comfortable in my life!

I didn't want to stick around and find out what it was so I began to walk quickly away. The smell lowered its grip on me as it faded with every step. I sped back to my room and stayed there the rest of the time thinking about what that was or could have been. Just thinking till the bell rang for students to start coming to class.
