The air hung thick with unspoken words and the sharp pang of betrayal. Smriti, her face taut and resolute, held her daughter Kiara's hand, her grip was tight.

Hriday, Smriti's husband, stood frozen. He had never thought that, the woman he loved, the mother of their children would do something like this. He had never imagined that his wife could be so cold.
His eyes welled with tears, but he held them back, wanting to appear strong for their sons, who stood beside him, bewildered.

"Smriti, please, think about this," Hriday pleaded, his voice hoarse. "This isn't you. We can work through this."

But Smriti didn't waver. She knew what she had to do. For years, she had felt suffocated, trapped by the demands of her family, her own dreams buried under the weight of motherhood and wifely duties. Now, she was finally breaking free.

"It's not about you, Hriday." she spat, her eyes ablaze with anger. "It's about me. I've always been the one to put everyone else's needs before mine. No more. I'm taking Kiara, and we're starting over."

"Smriti, you can't just leave like this. It's not fair to Kiara!" His voice rose, the desperation laced with a hint of panic.
"Fair?" Smriti shot back, her own frustration spilling over. "What's fair about being trapped in a life that suffocates me? I need this, Hriday. I need to find myself again."

12 year old Ayansh and 15 year old Rayansh, were barely able to comprehend what was happening. Ayansh being the sensitive was clinging to his father's leg, tear streaming down his cheeks.Rayansh, his face was pale, trying to make sense of the scene, hurt swirling within him.The eldest was standing silently behind his father, he thought that his father would take care of situation but now he felt that he need to intervene between his parents.

"Kiara's not some toy to be taken away, and you can't leave,we need you mom." Anant choked out, his voice raw was filled with emotion.

Smriti looked at her sons with same cold eyes "you'll be fine with your father."

Anant felt a lump forming in his throat,"you promised mom,you would never leave us,it's not fair."

Hriday stepped forward, desperation spilling over. "You think this is fun? Running away from your family? From me? You're tearing us apart, Smriti!"

"I don't care"

She shouted and turned away, pulling Kiara with her towards main door , leaving a trail of shattered hearts and unspoken pain in her wake.

The slam of the door echoed in the hall.
Hriday and kids ran outside. Hriday watched, frozen, as his wife, Smriti, drove away, with his daughter. He looked down at his boys, their fragile faces mirrored the devastation within him.

The air was thick with unspoken words. Anant was trying to be strong, but his voice trembled as he choked out, "Dad, is Mom really gone?"

Hriday knelt down, pulling his sons into a tight hug. "No Anant... We'll bring her back ,okay? We'll be fine." He knew the words were hollow, a desperate attempt to comfort himself as much as them.
