Jason's memories #2

"As you all know I am resigning." Colbin said. "But before I do, there are 3 traitors to New Rome who need to be punished!" 3 people were dragged into the room. "As you also know Jason Grace, son of Jupiter will be the new Praetor. Jason please give us their crimes." A trembling 13 year old Jason stepped forward. "They are convicted of-of stealing Imperial Gold weapons and d-destroying them." He said in a wobbly voice. "Good. Now tell me, traitors. Why did you do this?" The first of the three stepped forward. "Down with Jupiter!" He cried. "Our lord is our downfall!" The second one nodded. The third stayed silent. "Jason what is the punishment for disrespecting our lord?" Colbin asked, with a glint in his eyes. "D-d-death." Jason stuttered. "Indeed." Colbin smiled cruelly. "Last words of Tatin Croo are now being spoken!" He announced. "DOWN WITH JUPITER!" He bellowed before Colbin stabbed his throat. "Last words of Crain Tili." Colbin continued. "Jupiter showed us no kindness, I regret nothing." The girl said softly. Colbin plunged the dagger in her heart. "Jason, come forward." Colbin said. Jason stumbled to the Praetors side. "You will prove your loyalty to Jupiter, kill the final traitor." He handed Jason the knife and pushed him in front of the final person, a young boy. "Please! Please I will do anything." The young boy begged. "I-it's gonna be okay." Jason said, sobbing. The boy looked up hopefully at him. "I-it'll b-be o-okay." Jason promised again. Then he slammed his eyes shut and stabbed the knife down. The boys screams of pain echoed around the room. "All hail Jason Grace! Son of Jupiter, Praetor of New Rome!"

Jason POV:

There was silence. Percy, Annabeth, Leo, Hazel, Meg and Frank were all shocked. Gabbi was gone. I was shaking and whimpering. Grace calmly stood up and put a hand on my shoulder. "It wasn't your fault." Was all she said, then went and wrapped her arms around Meg. Nico stood up and made his way over to me.

He studied me then patted my shoulder and hurried back to Percy's arms. I guessed that was all the affection he could handle from someone other than Percy. "It was my fault." I told them firmly.

They stared at me. "I've accepted it. So continue my Lady." He respectfully told the ceiling. The TV flickered like it wanted to make me suffer maybe a little more, then the next memory started.

Jason tried to keep a straight face all through the Senate meeting. But that was hard to do when your dad had just electrocuted you. Painfully.

"HE WHAT!?" Leo yelped. Jason just shook his head and pointed to the screen.

Reyna kept looking at him, but if she suspected anything she didn't comment. The second the meeting ended he rushed to his room. He proceeded to vomit blood for the next 5 hours. Around the 3rd hour someone appeared next to me, but I didn't pay them attention. All I knew is when I stopped, APOLLO was next to me! He shook his head gravely at me then disappeared.

"That is the end of Jason's memories." Gabbi said softly. "Your dad hurt you?" Percy spat. "In the legion, misbehaving is punished." I told them. "What did you do?" Reyna asked. "Came too close to letting Krios win." I said to her.

Leo hugged my waist. "You didn't deserve that." He whispered to me. "I didn't?" I asked. "No." Everyone said at once. Immediately I relaxed.

'Will Solace.' Appeared on the screen. "Me next!" Will said, a little too happily. "Indeed." Gabbi said gravely.
