Date night

Narrator's POV:

Jeffrey sat nervously in his dimly lit room, his heart racing with anticipation. He had been planning this night for weeks.

He glanced at the clock; it was almost 7 PM, and his parents had finally left for their date. He took a deep breath and looked over at his "date" for the evening: a body pillow adorned with a picture of his crush, Y/N, his cute lab partner.

He had stalked their MySpace account, printing out as many photos of their face as he could find, and used the excuse of photography class to get close enough to capture a picture of their face. He had delicately cut it out and taped it securely to his Hatsune Miku body pillow.

The glow from his RGB keyboard illuminated the room as a playlist of Y/N's favorite songs playing softly in the background. Jeffrey had done his research well, knowing they loved indie music.

Jeffrey set out a small folder, filled it with electric candles, Y/N's favorite snacks and sodas and a bowl of his favorite ramen with the both of you to share

He smoothed out the pillowcase, making sure it looked just right. "Hi, Y/N," he whispered, feeling a bit silly but also oddly comforted. He took a seat next to the pillow and opened a can of soda, pouring some into a plastic cup and placing it in front of the pillow.

"So, how was your day?" he asked, pausing as if waiting for a response. He chuckled nervously at the silence that followed. "Mine was... well, it was okay. Classes were a bit boring, but I kept thinking about tonight. I've been really looking forward to spending time with you."

Jeffrey reached for a snack, offering some to the pillow before taking a bite himself. He continued talking, sharing stories and laughing at his own jokes.

For once, he wasn't just admiring Y/N from afar; he was, in his own weird way, finally spending time with them.

As the evening went on, Jeffrey leaned back against the wall, the pillow pressed against him, and sighed contentedly. "You know, Y/N, I always wanted to tell you how much I like you. Maybe one day, I'll work up the courage to do it in person. But for now, this will do."
