Prologue
What's worse than dying?
Dying a million times.
Puffer experienced death so many times he forgot to count after 30. It has to be over 40 at this point, not that Puffer cared anymore. He's grown numb to it, and the past three teams he had before.
However, this new one was his favorite group of people and the longest run he had without dying. They were light hearted, only the smallest experience dying and revival a couple times. They were still scared of it, but at least they know they can't die.
"Puffer, do you think we can go to the new moon?" Droid asked from his cot.
"Adamance?" Puffer swung in his chair to the terminal. He's been there plenty of times, it wasn't new to him, nor the two secret moons along with it. Though, death wasn't pleasant in those moons because of the robots.
Drowning and burning alive are the worst ways to go so far. He shuddered.
"Yeah."
"Umm..." He glanced at the numbers in the corner of the screen, they only had 30 credits left. "We won't have flashlights for everyone and we need a new teleporter. I was gonna send us to Experimentation or something."
"Nah man I think we can do it!" Droid boasted.
Puffer frowned, the group was getting bolder and bolder since they've been together. No deaths so far.
Hopefully none at all. I don't want to risk actually losing this whole team. It was always random, you either woke up with your team waiting or alone. You always revived at the company building, waiting for your team to get you. However, it was a gigantic building and it's possible to be put at the opposite side so you could lose your teammates.
It's not recommended to stay at the company for a long time.
"Where are we going?" Grizzy appeared, giving Droid a plate of food and setting one on the table next to Puffer.
"Adamance!" Droid announced before stuffing his face full of grits.
"Wait, really?" Grizzy turned to Puffer.
"Whoa, whoa." He put his hands up. "Maybe, I haven't decided yet."
"Why not?" Grizzy sat down next to Droid. "It doesn't cost anything."
Puffer took his time eating his food, staring at his friends. Sure the moon is free, but the amount of baboon hawks that hatch there and even the robots. But we faced one already...maybe I'm being too soft. They're my friends, they can handle themselves.
"So?" Droid pressed.
"Fine." Puffer sighed but smirked when they cheered. He typed into the terminal and heard the ship creak. Old as it was, it was at least reliable.
"Where the fuck are we going?" Pezzy poked his head into the main ship from the bathroom.
"Adamance."
"Oh cool!"
Grizzly pointed at the other door, "your food is in there, Pez."
"Alright, thanks man!"
It was peaceful, they all worked so well together. It was probably why they lasted so long. Yet Puffer worried, it was the highest quota he had seen in a long time.
And last time...? He shuddered.

The alien birds squawked as they lifted into the air, earth like trees rustled when the breeze came through. The rickety bridge creaked and groaned and the crunch of leaves underfoot was loud. Puffer took his helmet off and took a deep breath. Moons like these had air they could survive in, others like Dine barely had any. A good rule of thumb is if they have trees, there's air.
