THE BAU OFFICES BUSTLED WITH THE NOISE OF AGENTS BEGINNING THEIR DAY OF ENDLESS PAPERWORK. Stacks of printed paper and manilla folders lined every desk and every desk held at least one agent slaving away amongst them.
The doors to the office opened and in walked a blonde agent, a small smile gracing her lips as she looked at the photo she'd been sent of Henry in his pyjamas. She'd gotten up a lot earlier in order to come into the office and wasn't able to make breakfast for him. However, Will had reassured her that he'd handle breakfast and his playdate today so that she could get to work. JJ sometimes believed she'd gotten more luck than she deserved when it came to Will.
The photo was of her young son grinning with a wide, toothy smile and his eyes squeezed shut. A blob of whipped cream was dotted on his nose as chocolate sauce spread over his cheeks. His pancake-covered hands were held up in a thumbs-up, making JJ giggle at the sight of the mess on his face. She'd really wanted to stay home today, however, she'd had to change her original plans when Hotch had sent out a group message that they had a case. A bad one.
She wasn't sure now what could even be considered a 'bad case' anymore. Considering what the team had seen and experienced. Bad could mean there's a high body count, or it could be how the victims died that's so 'bad'. Or, worse, it could be personal. The personal cases were always the worst.
"Hey!" The sound of clicking heels came from beside her as JJ looked up to meet with the flamboyant Garcia. She wore a bright pink cardigan, over a floral pattern dress and matching pink heels. Her bright blonde hair was pulled into two bunches on either side of her head and her ears were adorned with matching flower earrings, one pink and one yellow. "Omg, is that Henry?"
"Yeah, Will and he attempted pancakes this morning and it got a little bit messy," JJ smiled as she scrolled through the photos she'd received from her husband. Every picture had more and more mess than the last before a picture of Will covered in whipped cream appeared next to Henry. "Oh, I wish I could've stayed. I could really do with homemade pancakes right about now."
"Ugh, same, but the crime-fighting awaits us, my lady," Garcia smiled as she handed JJ a needed cup of coffee before walking towards the round table room. JJ sighed as she sipped from the steaming cup before she walked up the stairs to meet with the rest of the team upstairs.
As she walked in, the table was surprisingly not covered in case files like it normally was and only seemed to have a few files on them with their tablets, minus where Reid would sit because of his aversion to technology, laid beside them. The thin manilla folders worried her as it most likely meant that there was not a lot of information provided for them. That never made it easy for the team.
