Hazel Meets Green

walking through an deserted area of my small old town.

No one really goes here, so I thought it’d be safe to walk through.
That was until a bunch of bandits surrounded me.

It was obvious they were trying to rob me or something, but I didn’t know what to do.

I didn’t want to give them my possessions, but I had no way of defending myself.

But almost in the blink of an eye, they all…disappeared..?

and that’s when I heard a woman..
“You alright, ma’am?”
her voice was music to my ears. beautiful she was too.

"well helloo gorgeous!" I stood with my hands on my hips, "my my my!"

“..Gorgeous? Seriously?”
She scoffed softly, crossing her arms over her chest.
“You could be a bit less...weird about it.”

Yet it was obvious she was flattered.

“Do you always greet people like that?.”
She raised a single eyebrow.
"I’m not gonna lie, it’s weird.”

"no not everyone, but ma'am." I gestured my hand at her, "wow ma'am."

She scoffed once more, her hazel eyes looking anywhere but mine.
“...Thanks, I guess.”
she didn’t quite know how to exactly process it, it was obvious.

I looked her up and down again, "the names cassie." i held my hand out, desperate to touch hers.

She slowly looked back at me, taking my hand in one of her own.

“Hazel. Pleased to meet ya.”
She replied, giving a small smile.

Hazel. Just like her eyes.

I smiled at her before fixing my hat, "gotta get going, I'll see you around...i hope." i looked at her once more before I walked away.

A few days later, I walked into a saloon and looked around.
as soon as as I walked in I could see Hazel sitting at the counter, sipping from a small glass which held, what I'm assuming was whisky.

She glanced over, raising a single eyebrow. I could see she was surprised to see me.
I wasn't surprised, more pleased.

"I'd hope to see you again" I chuckled lightly, walking over, "missed that pretty face of yours." I whispered.
if anyone around saw or even heard me flirting with a woman I'd be dead.

A bit of pink brushed across her freckcled cheeks as she scoffed.
Was she used to people always telling her how beautiful she was?
“...You’re a flirt, aren’t you?”

Of course I sat down beside her, nodding slowly.

Hazel rolled her eyes playfully.
“I shoulda guessed.”
She muttered, setting her glass down onto the counter as she looked over at me. Hazel meeting Green.

“How long have you been doing this, hm?”
She rested her elbow on the counter. Such a simple movement but it was incredibly attractive to me.
“Acting all charming, I mean.” she added.

"oh, I've never done this to anyone before." i looked at her, biting back a smile. It was true though. I hadn't.

That seemed to take her off guard though.
“...Really?”
I watched her as she tilted her head a little.

"yeah." I looked her up and down slightly before meeting her gaze again.

“Why me, though?.”
She raised a brow a bit at the way i was looking her over.

Why her? wow. I could go on for hours really. I didn't though. I simply gestured my hand at her. "you're gorgeous."

“You’re definitely not going to stop saying that, hm?”
She chuckled softly under her breath, sipping from her drink.

Was I wrong though? I'd never seen someone like her before.

"when I see something I like, I get it. Drinks, hats, weapons...a pretty thing like you" I whispered quietly. it was brave of me.

She scoffed a bit, very trying to hide the way my words flustered her.
“...You’re gonna get in trouble if you keep talking like that.”
She looked away for a moment.

She was right. was she ever wrong?

“Yknow...people could hear you.”
She glanced over at me, crossing her arms across her chest.

And so I looked around, dusting myself off as I stood up, "got it."

“And I’m saying this because I’m trying to protect you.”
She looked up at me as I stood and I watched as she took another sip from her glass before handing her a
folded note.

"meet me at the barn at 11pm." it read.

She looked up once she notcied me walking away
“..The hell do you want with me?”

I glared at her as if to say "just meet me there." before walking out.
