it was good until it wasn't

Chapter 2

" Go away" I mumbled as I felt someone shaking me.

" Y/n" 

I felt hands shake me again.

I groaned and turned my head as I opened my eyes. I blinked a few times to let my eyes adjust to the light then stared at the culprit that woke me up.

" I made you breakfast" Kehlani said with an amused look on their face.

" Just sit it on the table right there, I'll eat it once I'm fully up" I rasped out.

She nodded in response sitting my plate down and walking away. I got comfortable on the couch again and closed my eyes.

I opened my eyes to see my plate gone and the tv playing. I yawned before swinging the covers and sitting up.

I put my head in my hands and rubbed my face a few times.

I heard a laugh which caused me to look up.

" I didn't think you were ever gonna wake up" she shook their head.

" What time is it" I rasped out.

" umm it is three thirty-two pm" she said and sat their phone back down.

" Damn" I sighed out.

It's been a long two years since I was able to sleep in like that. Even when Hazel isn't with us and at victoria's mothers house, Victoria be having me up at the crack of ass to start our day so we're ' productive'. But the only productive thing is her yelling at me for damn near half the day.

" Did you have something to do? I thought about waking you up again but I know how you like your sleep and didn't want to-"

" Nah you're all good Keh, it's just been a minute since I was able to actually get a good nights rest" I said standing up.

She gave me a smile before looking back towards the tv.

I went to the bathroom to handle my business. I used the bathroom, washed my face and brushed my teeth then came back out. I walked towards the kitchen because the smell of food hit my nose.

" I warmed up your plate its back on the table in front of the couch" I heard Kehlani yell.

I rubbed my hands together walking towards the living room.

I walked over to the table, picking up my plate before sitting down on the couch. I picked up a piece of bacon and took a bite of it. A little smile crept up on my face and Kehlani let out a laugh.

" That good?" She asked.

I hummed in response because I still had food in my mouth. Kehlani smiled.

" When I tell you I'm so glad my mama taught you how I liked my bacon back in high school, Y'all two are the only two to make it perfect" I said then ate the rest of the piece of bacon in my hand.

" Well I can't do much because I'm terrified to be in public right now but this is my thank you for saving me yesterday and for just sitting with me until I went to sleep, you really didn't have to I already felt like so much of a bother" she shook their head.

" Like I said before Keh, You were important then and you still are now" I said taking another bite of my food before I heard my phone starting to ring.

It was on the floor next to my foot. I sighed picking it up to it was Victoria calling.

I closed my eyes before taking a deep breath.

" Give me one second Keh it's Victoria calling" I said standing up and hitting the green button. 

After a few seconds it connected and her face popped up on my screen.

" Hello" I said.

" Hi" she said with a small smile on her face. 

Before I could muster out another word, she beat me to it.

" I just want to apologize for everything yesterday with my actual voice because I don't know when you're coming back home from wherever you are, How I reacted was lowkey unacceptable, You saved someone who was in a bad situation whether it was your ex or not and whether I like them or not, I should be happy that your heart it gold like that" She said.

" Thank you for the apology I appreciate it, but it's giving a backwards apology" I said mumbling that last part before putting on lowkey forced smile.

" Well if you aren't too busy tonight I'd love to go out on a date" She said.

I looked towards Kehlani and then back at the phone.

I wasn't busy but truth is I didn't want to leave Kehlani's presence just yet. For the first time all year I don't feel overwhelmed and feel like I have to be perfect. It was nice to have Keh back as a friend.

" What time" I asked.

" I was thinking maybe eight? It'll give you enough time to still relax before we go out" she said with a smile.

" Okay then I'll see you soon" I said not giving her a chance to respond before hanging up. 

I walked back into the livingroom before sitting down again.

We sat on separate couches just enjoying each others company and watching the show she had on.

It started to get closer to the time for me to have to leave so I had gotten up and showered. I put on some Causal clothes and sprayed myself down before plopping back down on the couch.

" you sure you're okay with being here alone tonight" I asked.

She looked up from their phone with a smile.

" I'll be fine it's a beach house ON THE BEACH, I think I can find something to do" She chuckled.

" Well if you need me I'm a call away if you need anything and if you want to invite someone over so they can stay with you just let me know" I said standing up.

" Okay I will" she said standing up also.

I opened my arms for a hug and she gladly accepted it. She buried their head in my chest and I rested my head on top of theirs.

" And my closet isn't off limits, you currently don't have any clothes because they're all at your house obviously so whenever you want, you don't have to ask full access" I chuckled as we pulled away.

" Good to know, Enjoy your date y/n" Kehlani smiled at me before sitting back down.

" I will"

I grabbed my keys and headed to the front door.
