It was time to leave again and the sun started to set as Birch was leaving with his trusty Llama after trading with a small village. Birch was a wandering trader who loved nothing more than exploring the wide world.
He usually came to visit any villages he came across to stock up on supplies and make friends.
Birch turned to his only companion ,Cookie, giving her a smile and a pet on her head.
" Well, we better get going, girl?"
The Llama made a noise and began to lead her friend away from the village. Cookie was mostly light brown with little black dots on her fluff similar to the way a chocolate chip cookie looks.
Cookie was a family pet before Birch became a trader. It was even him that named her and he vaguely remembered that was the first thing that popped out of his mouth seeing her. He wasn't good with names, but Cookie didn't seem to mind.
These days Cookie wasn't a pet but more of a companion. Someone who kept him safe from everything.
As the sun finally set Birch noticed Cookie began to grow more restless than usual.
She snuggled closer to Birch in an attempt to shield him from trouble despite Birch usually carrying invisibility potions made specifically for nighttime. This was a normal thing and every time Birch had to remind her he was safe.
" You know I always carry my potions, Cookie."
Birch laughed at the animal, stepping to the side and began searching through his bag for his invisibility potions, still chucking.
Birch searched for a good minute, searching his bag and cursing at how messy it was. However, soon his laugh stopped and his movements turned frantic and he realized he forgot to do a restock.
Earlier that day, a pillager held him hostage, forcing him to give up his expensive, rare goods. His potions were one of them.
Birch cursed himself quietly. How could he be so stupid and careless? Forgetting something all wandering traders should carry! Cookie began to nudge Birch, who slowly stood and quickly clung to Cookie nervously. They needed to move fast. The trees would maybe be safe?
It was now completely dark as the pair began to make their way to the woods for more cover. Birch anxiety was off the charts as he could faintly hear zombie groaning in the distance.
Birch tried squinting into the darkness, hoping to see anything giving off light. It was awfully dark tonight. He felt terrified and just wanted to hold something that could glow so see his damn hands in front of his face.
Then, he noticed something, fainting glowing...
Without thinking, Birch broke away and began to run towards the light. He didn't even pay attention to his friends' calls as he sprinted as fast as he could.
When he was just a few feet away he noticed the light moved? Birch gasped quietly and stopped, well, trying as he bumped into whatever was holding the light.
Birch landed on his butt and quickly stared in horror at what he was looking at- There, standing tall with an Enderman carrying a lit pumpkin.
Obviously one of those really feral Endermen.
It looked down at him for a brief second, tilting its head before screeching loudly. Birch had only the time to stand before the creature dropped its pumpkin, swiping at the trader's face in a fit of rage of being stared at.
The screeching hurt Birch's ears, so he quickly cover them.
Birch didn't even let out a cry while stumbling back in shock, getting hit straight in the face by the Enderman's claws.
Not expecting to be attacked as his ears were completely covered.
Didn't even realize before his footing gave out from under him and he began to fall into the darkness.
