Friends:
Chapter Four,
The following week was a busy week for you, as you had matches every day. You barely attended class because of it and although most students would be falling behind, you were on top of your game. True to your word, you studied until your hand froze or cramped up.
Your mother had no problems with you missing school as long as your homework and grades were fine. She warned you previously that if your grades dropped, that she would get you off the tournament and placed into extra tutoring.
Thankfully that hasn't happened yet, so you were in the clear.
"Gah! I'm beat, Cap'n!" Mei groaned as she fell back on the ground, drawing a sigh from Leila, who kicked off her cleats. The team had just finished their last game for the day and were now resting on the field. Daiki told you guys to stretch your body before getting on the bus to head back home.
You cracked your back and laid on the floor as you began stretching. Nana laid on your left with Leila on your right as you looked over at Mei, who wouldn't stop complaining. "I don't think I'm suited for these games.." She whined, knowing she was full on lying.
She was a monster on the field. Everyone knew that, but she only said this to get the complaints out of her system. The team was used to this.
"I'm surprised Kageyama didn't show up.
"He's busy with practice and he only went to one of our games.." You deadpanned, making Leila snicker. Nana sat back up and looked over at Leila, who rose a brow in return. "Should we go out on Saturday?" Nana murmured, drawing surprised gasps from her teammates.
She never initiated hang outs, but rather avoided them like the plague. To hear her finally crack and invite them out brought her team to tears as they all jumped on her. You yelped when you were suddenly dragged into the hug as you wailed your arms.
Someone grabbed you and wrestled their arm around their neck, choking you in the process.
"???" You coughed and pat their arm, making Nana's eyes bulge out of her sockets. "You guys are hurting the Captain!" She screeched and shoved them off of her, which immediately freed you from their dangerous arms. You closed one eye and coughed, "Thanks.."
The team erupted into a joyous laughter, drawing a tired sigh from Nana. You smiled and brought an arm around Nana's shoulder whilst laughing along with your team. Everyone agreed to hang out on Saturday, as it was your only day off, and slowly got up from the ground.
"Alright, let's get going!" You heard Daiki yell from afar. He was coming back from the bus, deciding you all took too long to come back. He motioned for you guys to speed things up and chuckled upon seeing everyone smack Nana's back, making her jolt forward.
You snickered upon seeing Nana's exhausted face and smiled sheepishly when you caught her glare.
"Do you work tonight, Y/n?" Nana finally asked you, making you blink. You had worked night shift for the past two nights, which had worried her. You guys had matches every day of the week so far and even held a couple practices earlier in the day, which made it physically impossible for most of the girls to do anything else.
She knew you were probably studying like crazy and working at the same time. That was just how you were. "Yeah, just for a couple of hours though." You told her. "...you shouldn't work so late, especially since we're already so busy."
"I'll be alright." Is all you said before making your way onto the bus. She sighed and stared at your back, "I hope you're right.."
