The sound of music travelled across the square as Maya took a bite of the most delicious spaghetti carbonara she'd ever tasted, her eyes going wide as she looked up. Carina watched her wife with dancing eyes, her body following suit as she wiggled around in her seat.
"I told you!"
"Wow! This is amazing!"
"Wait until we get to dessert."
Maya took another bite before lifting her eyebrows and smiling mischievously.
"Hmmm, so it's like your French toast and better than sex?"
"Nooo! But, yes, maybe a little!"
Maya reached for Carina's hand across the table and held it, staring into her wife's eyes and holding on to the perfection of the moment. They had been in Italy for a week, enjoying what they had both dubbed their 'delayed honeymoon', which was perfectly timed since they were actually celebrating their real wedding anniversary with this dinner and dessert. The early evening air had a slight breeze as Maya finished her dinner and the waiter came over to clear their plates. Carina had asked for the check and as they waited, Maya pulled a slender box from her purse and slid it across the table. Carina's eyes went wide as a surprised smile began to form. She picked the box up and opened it, the tears instantly beginning to form as she lifted a tennis bracelet from inside and held it up.
"Maya...it's....beautiful. Grazie amore mio."
Leaning across the table, Maya took it from her wife and clasped it around her outstretched wrist.
"Happy anniversary my love."
Carina smiled as she turned her wrist, admiring her gift before biting her lower lip and pulling her own small square box from her lap and handing it to Maya.
"Buon anniversario Bambina."
Maya opened the box and tilted her head, looking up at Carina and smiling. She pulled the necklace out as Carina stood and stepped behind her to secure it around her neck.
"It's beautiful...I love it. Thank you."
Carina leaned down and kissed Maya sweetly.

"They are cute together."
Lucy pulled the binoculars down from her face and looked over at Kate.
"Yeah. I'm glad we could let them have tonight."
"Kate, do you think we'll get there?"
"Lucy, we already are, we just have a different dynamic."
"She really is special to you isn't she?"
"Who? Maya? Yes, of course she is, I've told you that."
"No I know but I mean...well...are you, are y-"
"Lucy Tara, stop right there. Maya Bishop is just my very dear friend. She always has been. I've never once felt about her the way I feel about you. You grew up with sisters, I only had my brother, just like she did. So when Maya and I met in London, we both just instantly clicked as friends. I love her like a sister but that's it."
Lucy reached for Kate's hand and interlaced their fingers together.
"Kate, I don't know if it's keeping an eye on an adorable couple or being in Italy or something else, but...Kate Whistler, I love you."
Kate lowered her binoculars and turned to Lucy, her smile widening as she leaned across the armrest and cupped Lucy's face in her hand.
"I think it's a combination of everything, and it's perfect, just like you. I love you Lucy Tara."
They kissed as Maya and Carina crossed the square arm in arm, enjoying their gelato and celebrating their love.

"Yeah boss, it's definitely her....ok...I don't think we can grab her until the conference....nahh she's always with someone...got it boss."
Tony put his phone down, looked at Adolfo and pointed at Carina, walking with Maya on the far corner of the square.
"Boss says he wants us to snatch her but not rough her up. It's gonna be tough though 'cause her wife's always next to her. We just gotta get them separated long enough."
"Yah, we can make it happen. C'mon, let's go, there ain't nothing we can do tonight."

"Maya, I'm getting fat."
"What?"
"I'm getting fat. Gabriella told me I'm starting to fill out and now all my clothes are starting to feel tight. I think we need to go shopping."
Maya was sitting at the desk in their suite working on her speech as Carina came out of the bathroom wearing her robe. Crossing the space between them, Carina opened her robe and flashed her wife. Maya's eyes twinkled and she smiled as she reached over and slid her arms inside the robe and around Carina's waist pulling her close before gently kissing Carina's abdomen.
"Are you both finally ready to start growing in there?"
Carina hugged Maya's head and smiled. Maya looked up and rested her chin on Carina's stomach.
"I'm going to love seeing you look pregnant. You are going to be the most gorgeous mom in the entire universe. And you're all mine, how did I get so damned lucky?"
"Because I'm a sucker for your eyes and smile. And soon I'll have even more of that to wear me down, you know what that means? Sono fottuto."
"Hey! You aren't any more screwed than I am! It might be my eggs in here, but it's all you growing them. And if you recall, I wanted a little you I could count my blessings on. Luckily we have two now, plus Liam. Looks like you got your wish for three Doctor Deluca."
"You do know the only time I'll allow you to not use both names is when we are alone right? Otherwise, I am very proud to be Doctor Deluca-Bishop, capisce?"
"Will I be spanked if I forget?"
Carina smiled, shook her head and kissed Maya.
"You are ridicolo Bambina, but you're cute. Now, basta, I want to go shopping!"

"Thanks for coming with us, even though I know this isn't exactly what you provide protection for."
"Don't be silly, I'm glad we can just hang here while Lucy and Carina get to shop."
"Carina has her first conference tomorrow morning, it's informal but I'm still a little worried."
"Don't be, Jessie and Kai are over there now doing last minute checks. Besides, Carina has never shown up on any of the emails we intercepted, it's only ever referenced you. Ernie got some low level chatter but nothing specific. Sami is in Paris on a shopping trip and we know that Giancomo is still in Hawaii so I'm not going to get too nervous."
Maya glanced over at Carina who was chatting easily with Lucy, grabbing clothes off the rack as both women compared fabrics and patterns.
"Honestly Katie, I'm more concerned about me having to go to Greece for two days. Carina is scheduled to spend time with Gabriella doing promotional activities at the hospital while I'm gone and I'm stressing because we haven't been so far apart since she had to come back here during the pandemic while we waited for the marriage visa to clear."
"Maya it's going to be ok. Honestly, I'm more concerned about you than I am about Carina. Plus, I'm staying here while you go with Jane and Lucy. And you'll only be gone for two days so stop stressing."
Maya exhaled and nodded, waving and smiling as Carina held up her finds.
"I hope you're right Katie."

"There's no way we're getting her today. Too many people around to be quick and quiet."
"Yeah, the boss ain't gonna be happy but I'd rather wait it out. We'll get an opportunity soon enough. There's some sort of dinner to kick off the conference next week so we can come to all the stuff leading up to that, scope them all out and then make our move. Besides, see that tall blonde? She's FBI, I've seen her before. And the dark haired one shopping with the doc? She's NCIS. That means she's being protected, probably because of her wife."
"I thought for sure that's who we'd be taking. Boss' wife has a hard on against her and she'd be easier to snag since she's not the center of attention. But whatever, as long as we get paid, s'all that matters."

Carina came into their suite to hear Maya talking softly to Liam. She leaned against the wall and listened.
"I'm only going to be gone for two days and this is going to be the only time Mamma and I will be apart. I need you to keep her and your little brother and sister in Mamma's tummy safe while I'm gone ok?"
Carina put her hand over her mouth to keep herself from making a sound as Liam made his cooing and gurgling sounds before raspberrying Maya.
"I'm glad we understand each other. I love you so much."
Carina couldn't hold back her tears as Maya kissed Liam, stood up and turned around.
"Hey, how long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough to fall in love with you all over again Bambina."
Maya closed the space between them, letting Carina hug her and Liam as they softly swayed around the room, smiling at each other and their son until his eyes closed and he drifted off to sleep in his mom's embrace.
