Toned paper: this paper is available in toned tan or toned gray. Toned Tan is particularly suitable for colored pencils because you can create highlights and beautiful effects with the white colored pencil. Toned Gray works well for black and white drawings. Both types of paper have a smooth to slightly structured surface.
Photo cardboard: Comes in many colors. This paper is only partially erasable and hardly or not at all lightfast. This paper has a slightly textured surface or is smooth.
Drawing paper: You can choose the surface yourself. Rough surface (more for sketches or rough drawings) or smooth surface (for fine or smooth drawings). When choosing paper, make sure that the paper is not too smooth, otherwise it will be difficult to apply/layer paint on it. The paper should ideally have a rough structure. If you want to paint with watercolors then you will probably see the terms when searching for paper:
Hot pressed: has a smooth, slightly structured surface.
Cold pressed: has a matt, structured or even rough surface.
There is also a gram indication on the blocks, i.e. the sheet thickness per square meter. You should always choose a heavier grammage for drawings.
