I feel like I left something out, so let me know if there are any mistakes!
(Lawrence, Kansas, 22 Years Ago)
It's night, in a house Mary Winchester carries her son Dean in her arms. She is a beautiful young mother in a genuine, maternal way.
"Oh, come on" Dean rolled his eyes as Sam also shifted uncomfortably on the couch. Why did they have to see that ? Abby barely turned toward her boyfriend to leave a light kiss on his jaw, a comforting gesture.
"Look how cute you are as a baby" she whispered, unable to hold back a smile at the sight of what she knew was a child too old to be Sammy. Dean lowered his green eyes from the episode to cast a quick glance at the red-haired woman sitting on his lap. There was nothing but pure adoration in her features as she contemplated her girlfriend, who meanwhile had turned back to the screen, very different thoughts racing through her mind.
Although she would never admit it, especially because of what she knew would be the reactions of the two hunters, she was curious to see what had happened that night with her own eyes. Obviously she was not thrilled by what she would see on the screen, she was aware of that, and not a day went by without her feeling sorry for what had been the fuse to the Winchesters' destruction, but she was terribly curious in a way that made her feel strangely guilty. What had turned John from a quiet, gentle, optimistic man into one of the most ruthless, admired hunters of all time?
MARY: Come on, let's say good night to your brother.
Mary turns on the light, baby Sam stirs in the crib. Dean kisses his brother on the forehead.
DEAN: Good night, Sam.
MARY: Good night, love.
Sam's eyes became slightly glazed as he watched his mother care for him. If only things would have been different.
JOHN: Hey, Dean.
John Winchester is leaning against the door looking with a smile at his lovely wife and children.
DEAN: Daddy!
JOHN: Hey, buddy. Whoa!
Dean runs toward his father, happy to see him again, and John picks him up with a smile.
JOHN: So what do you think? You think Sammy's ready to toss around a football?
DEAN: No, daddy.
JOHN: (laughing) No.
Dean looked at the screen as if it were a lifeline that could save him from the abyss of pain that John had meant to him. He had been desperate, he had lost his mind when his father had died, if it hadn't been for Abby, Sam and Bobby he would never have made it. Although he didn't like his life being shown like a stupid TV show to complete strangers, he was heartened to watch on the screen the few moments of happiness he had spent with his father before his life was ruined.
