River stood in a road, unable to tell where she was. It was dark. She could tell that she wasn't herself, she was an older version of herself. She felt powerful like she had been through many battles. She held a dagger in one of her hands.

About 30 feet away from her, was someone she couldn't recognize. Their facial features were blurred and darkened like everything around her.

The opponent facing her came a little closer, and they started circling each other. They slowly got closer to each other. Until the opponent was close enough to slash their sword. River deflected the blade with her dagger, the sound of the blades clashing and filling the air around them. She felt like she had been using this knife for years.

The battle went on, and she knocked her opponent off-balance for a moment, using that opportunity to slash her knife, creating a cut on their arm. When they got their balance back, they aggressively charged toward her, their blades clashing.

The battle went on for a few minutes. When River tried to deflect the sword coming toward her, it slipped. The blade stabbed her right in the gut, a sharp pain in her stomach causing her to drop to her knees while the opponent ran away. Like they were scared of what her death might do to them.

The next thing she knew, she was lying in a girl's arms. She couldn't see her face, but the girl held her close.

The girl held her while she bled out, until she took her last breath and everything went black.

River shot up in her sleeping bag, gasping for air. Percy was still asleep. She looked around, she was in cabin eleven, and everyone was sleeping. Except for Rome.

Rome saw her and came over. "You okay?"

"Nightmare." River managed to say.

"It's okay," Rome said. "We all get them. Wanna talk outside?"

River nodded.

They sat on the step of the porch in front of cabin eleven.

"Everyone here gets nightmares," Rome comforted her. "It's a demi-god thing. Some of our dreams are visions, or gods—or other things—trying to communicate to us."

Rome saying that dreams could be visions did not comfort River at all.

"I've always had them," River said. "But this one...it was more scary. More realistic. I've never had one like that."

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked.

River shook her head. She was scared to tell anyone, scared that it might come true.

"Okay, that's fine. I'm here for you, don't worry."

River smiled.

Rome put his arm around her. "I'll keep you safe, River."

They sat there in silence for a while, before heading back inside and going back to sleep. When she fell back asleep, she didn't have a nightmare.
