I have sinned, what shall I do
O thou Preserver Of Men
My foolish eyes sought out goods
Charming goods that wore a disguise
telling sweet lies
Hidden traps of which I wanted ample
Trampled on heads, to get ahead
Spent days working, never saw my bed
The pages were scarlet red
with my buckets of blood, sweat
My room watched with worry
But I was in a hurry to ascend
To rooms roamed by rich men
Wearing suits of silk, swell
Words they said, I mimicked well
Still an outsider, I knew that well
Colleagues, snakes. I dwelt in the grass, my
Feet in hell
Hold on now, it all changed
That scribbled over chalkboard of my offences
Wiped clean, reacquainting me with its original green
That great, good green!
Only through He who was slain
I can now see
I walk the world, a new man
Looking forward now with glee
Because of Jesus Christ, he who is and is to be
Saved by grace, saved for all eternity
