It's been nearly a decade since the Hargreeves siblings had last seen one another. For some, it's been longer. For others, it's been... much, much longer.
The only thing that brought them back together was the fact that, in the same moment, on the same night, all of them had happened to be on Channel 9.
"Eccentric billionaire, Reginald Hargreeves, has been found dead in his own home."In that moment, Kaia, number one, sat impatiently at the table in the diner, a job interviewer infront of her jotting down notes of her every move. As soon as she heard the news on the television beside her, she shot up from the table and left the diner without a word to a single soul.
Colby, number two, had just gotten home from a shift at the police station when he heard the news of his father's passing. He'd only had time to take off the top part of his uniform before he left the house again.
As the man travelled through alleys and shadows, he took his hair down and began running his fingers through it, his mind racing with thoughts of just how badly this fucked up reunion would go. He pulled his cigarettes and lighter from his pocket and lit one to calm himself down."AND THATS CUT" Blair, number three, heard her director yell as she finished filming for a new plant discovery on mars that could help some people, she got up and went over to a coworker watching the news on their phone.
"what are you watching?" she said walking behind to look at the phone
"you have to see this!" she looks down to see the news saying her father was now, so suddenly, dead.
"uhmm i have to leave" she quickly grabbed her coat before running out the door and to her car.Ellie, number five, was at the end of a long shift, she was taking supply of her rig when she saw the news,
"Oh my god? I uh—" She ran her fingers through her hair, "I gotta go," She told her partner and ran off."That'll be 8.99$." Valerie, number six, said in a monotone voice to the customer, sliding over his questionable choice in items; s playboy bunny magazine and a mars bar, what a strange person to have as a regular.
.The radio then said something that caught her attention.
"Breaking news; Eccentric billionaire, Reginald Hargreeves reported dead."
"Shit." She'd mutter.
"I have to clock off, got somewhere to be." She'd say to her coworker, hopping over the counter and leaving the gas station.Mischa, number seven, carded his fingers through his hair, staring down at the case file he was working on. The blue light of the television screen cast long shadows across the room of his office, and he didn't make much of what was being said. It was Channel 9. They fear mongered. That was about all.
But then he heard something.
"Reginald Hargreeves" and "found dead".
He nearly jumped for joy. Mischa knew there would be a funeral. He considered not going at all.
"Reginald Hargreeves?" Mischa's work partner, Janek, said questioningly from the couch. "Isn't that your father?"
"Yeah. I thought the day would never come," Mischa quipped, cheerfully.
"Are you going to the funeral?" Janek asked. "Most people would be panicking."
"Absolutely not. This is a time to pop champagne!" Mischa grinned.
"Go to the funeral, Morozov," Janek said. Mischa had since changed his surname since he left the academy.
Janek's opinion was one of the only Mischa truly considered.
"God...if you insist."Two of these siblings had not been informed of the death over the news; Eight, this one had no name like his siblings did, instead just a number, he couldn't be more different than his siblings really.
Eight had been inside the house when it happened, and was informed of the passing moments after it took place, being the first to know.Upon hearing of her fathers death, Theo, number four, wasn't in the academy, she was out at her local underground metal show, where she enjoys to mosh to feel pain. At these shows, theo gets a solo act along side a band to show off her contortion skills in a sequenced routine to metal music.
Theo after her set steps outside to take some painkillers and a cigarette, she opens her phone to receive a message from one of her siblings, Eight, about her fathers death. she sighs in relief.
