Kiyotaka Pov
It had been two days now. Two days since Sakayanagi dropped out. Two days since Horikita's class became Class A.
It had been a long journey with them. A journey filled with hardship, tests of relationships, and growing. Everybody has grown in someway.
Even me.
She said I smiled.
Smiling?
I hardly knew I was until she told me. I had never smiled before in my life.
Smiling meant you experienced an emotion, whether it be nostalgia, sadness, anger, or happiness.
But I felt nothing.
So could one say I really grew over the past two years?
Or have I just regressed.
That's what I was thinking when I sent over the points to Chabashira-Sensei.
"Are you sure, Ayanokouji-Kun?" She asked, the clear nervousness in her voice brining no emotion to my face.
I nodded, "Yes. Class D."
"How...why?"
"It's not your place as a teacher to ask," I replied.
"That's true..."
With that, our conversation ended and I spent the next two days breaking up with Karuizawa.
She begged and cried for me to stay, and that she loved me, but I already knew that.
She's a parasite, and she needs to grow out of it.
As I thought to myself and recounted the events of the previous days, my phone suddenly rang a familiar tone.
I picked it up.
"Ayanokouji-Kun, Chabashira-Sensei better be pulling a bad April Fools prank," said Horikita plainly on the other end.
"It's March."
"That's true but-"
"What she said to you is true. I transferred out."
Silence on the other end.
Imagine your greatest ally betrayed you. How would you feel?
Angry? Sad? Or just too shocked to feel the emotion.
"Come to my room," she said suddenly.
"Your room? Why?"
"I suppose since you're leaving I can thank you properly with a meal," she replied quickly, "Free of charge. I won't try and use it against you like before."
"Free food, huh? Be there in five."
"See you then," she said. Horikita then promptly hung up the phone.
I sighed as I stood up and began to ready myself for this meeting.
I have no doubt her intention wasn't to try and convince me to come back to Class A. My answer would be no, no matter what proposal she would give me.
With my jacket on, I stepped into the dormitory hall and breathed in the the fresh air.
The trees were beginning to bloom, just like they had at the start of this year and the start of my life.
High school life.
Strange how I often think of these years as the beginning and end of my life when in fact I've been living for 14 years before this.
