The Bosses Brother!Boston, MA
I was never a morning person. Never would be. I forgot to take my frozen prepped lunch out of the freezer the night before. So now I'm hoping that before lunch time rolls around I can enjoy my food. If not I was going to have to get lunch from the vending machine in the break room.
There was not much to pick from there. I made sure to dress really nice today. It wasn't a "man catching" dress. I just needed to feel good about me. Be confident my step mother Hope always told me to be.
I never knew my real mom. She died giving birth to me. She had looked beautiful in her photos as well as videos grandma had of her. Her name had been Ophelia. They called her Opal for short. She picked out my name before she died so dad stuck with Cassie Lynn.
After a favorite folk song writer mom loved back in the 1970's. Hope was a good mother to me. The best she could do. She couldn't not have kids of her own when dad met her. I was about four when they married. I had been the flower girl.
I had a well adjusted life growing up here in Boston. But maybe one day if my funds allowed me to, I would like to move. To another state. Somewhere I had never moved before. Or lived before.
I get into work a noticed they were setting up a breakfast buffet for us all. I wondered what the occasion could be for? Or who? Maybe it was for my boss? Or another coworker? After I clock in for the day I set my stuff at my desk.
I put my lunch in the fridge for later that day. Helped myself to some tea in the break room. Joanne friend Susan stops me at the doorway.

"Our bosses brother is here in town! So exciting to have Shawn here! I can't wait to see him again! What a guy!" exclaimed Susan with a lustful look in her eyes. She was around my age. Taller. Red hair very long beautifully kept hair. A little bit of freckles and she had green eyes.
"Susan, has the hots for Shawn! She got him to attend a Christmas party with her but that's it. Move on girl he is not interested" says Joanne.
"So, that's why we are having this big celebration breakfast?" I wonder out loud.
"No, Shawn is here because the city is honoring Cameron today for opening a new homeless shelter. As well as a new building for low in come families. He's trying to help the homeless population here in Boston" explains Susan.
My heart swells with joy. I loved people like that. Ones that spread joy into this world. We sure needed more people like Cameron. That was so wonderful beyond words!
"Cameron is always giving back! That's why we all adore him!" brags Joanne.
"I can see why" I agree with a smile.
