I had fallen unconscious for a while before waking up in the same white room I was put in before, only this time, it was only me in the room while the same scientists as before stood outside watching me through an indestructible glass. I was confused about what had happened until I looked into the glass to see a different person staring back at me through the reflection. I couldn't believe my eyes, I felt like I had just fought a war with my brain to be alive.
"Hello, can you hear me 23? We need to ask you some questions about what's happening to your body."
I looked at their curious faces, I could see gunners not far behind them, just waiting for me to get mad and destroy something. I started walking towards the window to get a better look when they suddenly pointed their weapons right at my head.
"What kind of questions?"
I was standing right infront of the window, curious of what they were going to do or ask.
"Things that you might be able to do, for example. Can you try switching your body back?"
That question made me curious, what are they trying to do with me?
"I..Don't know."
I was met with a sigh of disappointment, I guess I was supposed to know how to control it right away.
"That's okay 23, do you know what caused it perhaps?"
I thought about it, about what had happened to me at that moment.
"Uhm..I was sad, does that mean anything?"
I saw their faces lighten, like they had just discovered something historic.
"Alright 23, we're going to test some things out. You just focus on your emotions for the time being.. Okay?"
I was confused, what did they find out? What were they going to try? I wanted to ask so many questions but before I could get a word out, the whole room became dark. I was scared, I could feel my emotions flowing through me just as the blue liquid had before. I pleaded for them to turn the lights back on, but was met with no answer. I felt alone. My fear turning into worry and panic, I noticed my skin started to feel strange in a way. I looked closer and saw that the white splotches all over me were clumping together, turning my whole body a bright, pale white. I was scared.
"What's happening to me..? Is anyone there?"
I was again met with no answer, nothing but silence to keep me company. I could feel the intenseness of my emotions flowing through, clouding my brain and sending me into a panic. The longer I stood there panicking, the stronger the feeling got. Until.
"GET THE GUNS READY! 23 HAS BECOME HEAVILY UNSTABLE. ABORT THE TEST."
I felt my limbs twisting and changing shape, but I wasn't there. I was knocked unconscious by my own body as a form of protection. All I could do was simply be there while my body took things into its own hands.
"BLOCK THE DOORWAY. IT'S LIKE A RAGING BEAST"
As my body raged on uncontrollably, I thought about how it felt to suddenly switch like that. To feel every fiber in my body changing its shape. To feel my bones morph to mimic the shape of my body. It was terrifying, yet peaceful in a way. Like it was shielding me from a threat I wasn't yet ready for. It was nice.
"THE BEAST PASSED OUT! HURRY AND PUT IT UNDER 24 HOUR SURVEILLANCE"
As time went on, my body has continued to be tested on, the more tests that I went through, the more my body started to evolve. Now I'm sixteen and live in an isolation room on a lower floor of the facility than I used to, right next to..
"APPLE!! I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME!"
We're best friends now, although he seems to deny it.
"Shape, stop harassing your neighbor."
Shape. That was my new name. It was a simple, yet odd name that the scientists gave me.
"But he won't respond to me, can you check if he's dead?"
The guard laughed at me and assured me that he wasn't dead, just sleeping.
Apple's room was much different than mine, his room was constantly filled halfway with water as the scientist didn't want to take any chances with his mostly unstable ability. While mine was a plain white room that was constantly under surveillance. It really sucked sitting in there all day. Especially when you're considered a walking safety hazard. Though I was told they found the reason for the sudden wave of destruction I had caused.
"Sir! We made a breakthrough!"
It was faint, but I heard one of the scientists talking to another person, and by the sounds of it, I was sure it was their boss.
"What is it?
He had a cold tone to his voice, with every word he said booming through the room like he was speaking through a megaphone.
"We found the reason for the subject's strange physical changes."
The room went silent, it felt uncomfortable.
"The child carries three separate souls inside of them, they are quite literally 3 separate beings sharing one body."
I was shocked. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. How could I have 2 other people existing in me and I had no idea!? I was so caught up with my own shock that I didn't even realize how quiet the room had gotten.
"That's incredible! We need to increase the testing right away then. Get the machines ready!"
The tone change in his voice was honestly shocking. It was also terrifying considering the amount of tests I was about to be put through.
"23! ARE YOU IGNORING ME?"
Well, I guess the time for backstories are over. I have testing to do.
