It was quiet in the gym Maddie was just doing some cheer stunts to practice for the upcoming game. She didn't do the stunts that included two people she just mostly wanted to stretch and practice basic stunts that she could do alone.

All of a sudden there's a rhythmic sound of a basketball bouncing and Maddie looks and sees the 6'2 basketball player and she quietly rolls her eyes.

"What are you doing here Ducharme?" Maddie asks.

"Am I not allowed to practice at the gym to get extra shots up," Caroline says teasingly.

"Why are you getting extra shots up?" Maddie asks.

"Injuries you know I have to keep up," Caroline responds.

Caroline puts a hand on Maddie's shoulder.

"Listen I know you don't love me like I love you but I don't want to lose you," Caroline says.

"Can we just be friends?" Caroline asks taking her hand off Maddies shoulder.

"Sure but no flirting or anything else," Maddie says.

"Good does that mean you can come to a college party with me," Caroline asks.

"Oh you mean that one Azzis going to?" Maddie asks.

"How are you already friends with Azzi?" Caroline asks.

"After yesterday's practice, she gave me her number," Maddie responds.

Caroline's heart sinks a little at that but she brushes it off and smiles. Caroline starts shooting the basketball again.

"Hey, why don't you try?" Caroline asks her shoulder brushing against Maddie's shoulder.

Maddie takes the ball and shoots a nice 3-pointer.

Caroline laughs.

"I should take your career," Maddie says teasingly.

"You hate being yelled at I don't think you could handle coach Geno," Caroline says remembering how Maddie would get if she got yelled at.

"Hey, I can handle getting yelled at!" Maddie says complaining.

"No you can't Mads," Caroline says shaking her head and making Maddie laugh.

"Maybe you should try cheerleading?" Maddie says on purpose to tease Caroline.

"No, I like looking at the pretty girls I don't want to be one," Caroline says.

"Caroline you attractive and pretty in a friend's way," Maddie says.

"You are pretty in a friend way too," Caroline responds.
