TESSA GRAY
I gasped awake as a loud bang ringed near me.
My eyes rapidly scanned over the room and found Dean standing with an hand on the door handle, my body relaxing instantly.
Sam, who had the same reaction as me, fell back into the bed we were laying on. "Man, did you have to do that?"
Yesterday we had fallen asleep while talking, the motel bed was so small that my ass was barely on it. Sam tall and wide frame surely aggravated the situation.
I raised myself up on my elbows, until i was sitting up.
I took in Dean's figure, his slumped shoulders and the dark circles under his eyes. "Have you been out all night?"
Dean looked at me in a way i had never seen him do, glancing briefly to his brother, before he masked it all, as usual. He turned his back to us and went to retrieve the remote to turn on the little old tv in the room. "Been looking for a case." He changed chanels, until he found the news. "Didn't have much luck."
I almost cringed as his casual tone, because i knew it too well. I always called it the 'scary-calm' voice.
Sam and i exchanged looks as he kept facing the tv. I knew he built back up his walls, but i was confused. After everything that had happened... there was something that unnerved him. Was he still pissed at Sam? Or was he disgusted of me, of what i was?
I lowered my gaze, keeping my mouth shut.
If he was angry at me, the least i made my presence known, the better. At least, that's how it had always worked for me. The least i spoke, then faster i could've gotten away.
Sam cleared his throat. "Dean, maybe we should slow down a little, we just came back from one." I felt his eyes on me.
Dean held the remote tighter. "We can't."
"What are you talking about?" Sam didn't raise his voice.
Dean turned around. "Dad called."
"What?!" Sam got up. "When?"
"On my ride back here." His body was still tense.
I surely didn't expect this reaction out of him, when we would've finally found his father.
"Where is he, is he okay?" Sam worried.
"I don't know." Dean's jaw flexed.
"You... don't know." Sam blinked. "What do you mean, you don't know?"
"He got us a case."
I felt the air in the room shift and i braced myself for what i knew was coming.
"Another job." Sam spoke slowly, an hint of irritation in his voice. "He called, you didn't ask any questions and he gave us... another order. You do see how this looks, don't you?"
"Listen, all that matters it's that he's okay. He had to have his reasons." He cut short.
Their bickering faded in the background as the tv screen showed an image too familiar, getting my whole body to still.
Sam stopped speaking, his eyes shifting to the device, followed a moment later by Dean, as the journalist said my name.
"...Tessa Gray, the only daughter of the couple, is the main suspect for their murder, since her fingerprints where found on the scene and on one of the bodies."
The tv shut off as the inside of my house flashed on it, blood still covering the white floor and my eyes shot to Dean, who had the remote firmly in his hand.
