"so, did you get to talk to him?" kuroo ask between giggles.

akaashi flicks his paint on kuroo apron, giving him a glare. "kinda... he really doesn't seem interested in me."

"give him some time, kaashi." kuroo tells him, continuing his painting. "bo just isn't really the romantic type."

"does he even like guys?"

kuroo shrugs, "he's expressed he's interested in dating men but all of his past relationships and crushes were girls."

"that didn't help my case but thanks."

and then akaashi flashed kuroo a sarcastic smile before going back to his painting.

well, kuroo wasn't all to bothered by this. he hasn't known akaashi for the longest time but he's knows him well enough to understand that he shouldn't take his facial expression to heart.

kuroo dipped his brush into the oil paint and went on auto pilot.

as they just got back from summer vacation two months ago, their professor quickly made them get back on the canvas to start their next project.

like every other school in japan, they have a school festival in the middle of fall where every department has an event to showcase their hard work that marks the half year.

as for the oil painting department, their event is always a competition.

and for this year's festival theme, their professor chose nature.

it didn't matter what form of nature it was. it could be the deep blue oceans or the towering trees in a forest.

that was the theme.

just nature.

kuroo sat in front of canvas. it had some spots of blues and greens but mostly white; as kuroo was still somewhat a brainstorming on what to paint.

he put on his headphones and started to mix his colors.

kuroo always found himself using a more pastel color pallet. he liked the way the pinks and blues and purples blended in with each other.

one thing that kuroo loves about oil painting specifically is that you can see the thought process in the painting itself. every hesitation and every confident brush stroke is just oh so noticeable.

kuroo let his hand freely do whatever they want for the next hour. mixing colors and just painting whatever comes in mind. although most people take this competition extremely serious, kuroo thought it wasn't that big of a deal.

"kuroo," akaashi calls out, hand on his shoulder. "i'm heading out, you wanna come?"

kuroo looked back at his painting and thought he did enough today. "sure, let me just put my stuff away."

after washing and drying all his brushes, kuroo put everything in his backpack and caught up with akaashi at the front door.

"where we going?"

akaashi was too busy texting to look up, "we're meeting up with kenma."

oh.

"kenma?" kuroo echos.

"just so you know," akaashi laughs, looking up at kuroo. "you were a little too obvious the other night."

"what do you mean by that?"

"you couldn't keep your eyes off him!"

kuroo rolls his eyes, "i don't know what you're talking about."
