I make my way through the lunchline, slowly filling my tray with various foods and sides. I hum along to the song Brooklyn Baby as it plays through my ear buds. I walk up to the cash register before paying for my food. I make my way out of the school cafeteria, my tray of food in my hands. I push the door of the library open with my hips before walking in and making my way to a table in the corner that is surrounded by bookshelves.
I love it here. It is quiet, and relaxing. The library is the best place to take a break, to relax and forget about all the drama and bullying that surrounds my highschool life. I opened up the container of chocolate milk that I grabbed from the cafeteria. I hear a small knock on the side of one of the bookshelves. My head perks up to see Daniel with a nervous smile.
"Hey. Do you mind if I sit here?" He gestures towards the seat across from me. I shake my head, silently giving him permission to sit at the table. His smile widens as he takes a seat across from me. "I am sorry about your nose," He mumbles, his smile fading into a guilty and slightly embarrassed frown, "I didn't mean to hit you in the face. I-"
"It is fine." I respond quietly, not looking up at him as I grab my phone from my pocket. I begin to scroll through Tiktok, trying to occupy myself as I eat. Daniel sits across from me, his deep blue eyes shining with a hint of guilt. The air around us starts to grow thick with awkward silence. Why was he here anyways? He is always in the cafeteria for lunch, always constantly surrounded by people. Daniel clears his throat, causing my attention to be pulled from my phone and up to him.
"Do you need something?" I ask, my tone curious. I reach my hand up to my ear, pulling out one of my earbuds. Daniel lets out a small breath before looking me in the eyes with a serious expression.
"I need your help."
