After her talk with Mina and Ochaco, Katana felt a sense of relief wash over her. Their advice had given her clarity, and for the first time in days, she felt like she could breathe again. She wasn't in a rush to make any decisions and could take her time sorting through her emotions.
But as the days passed, new complications began to emerge.
Kenshin's arrival had already shaken things up, and now, it seemed like he was trying to get her attention in subtle ways. During training exercises, she caught him glancing at her more often than usual, his eyes lingering just a bit too long. His once playful banter seemed to carry a different tone, one that bordered on flirtation. At first, Katana brushed it off, telling herself that she was just imagining things, but the more she noticed it, the harder it became to ignore.
It wasn't that she didn't appreciate Kenshin's attention-they had been close once, and part of her was happy to reconnect with him-but she had other things on her mind. Her feelings for Bakugo were still unresolved, and the last thing she needed was another layer of confusion.
Deciding that she needed to clear her head, Katana laced up her running shoes one evening and headed out for a jog around the UA campus. The cool night air and the rhythmic sound of her feet hitting the pavement helped to soothe her restless mind. For a while, she lost herself in the simple act of running, focusing only on the steady beat of her heart and the path ahead.
But her peace was short-lived.
As she rounded a corner, she collided head-on with someone, the impact knocking the breath out of her. Before she could even register what had happened, she felt a sharp pain in her side as a fist connected with her ribs, sending her stumbling back.
"What the hell, Storm?" a familiar voice snarled.
Katana looked up, clutching her side, and saw Bakugou glaring down at her, his eyes blazing with irritation.
"Bakugou!" she gasped, still winded from both the collision and the punch. "What was that for?"
"For not watching where the hell you're going!" Bakugou snapped, crossing his arms over his chest. "You could've gotten us both hurt, idiot."
Katana winced, not just from the pain, but from the sting of his words. "I'm sorry, okay? I was just... trying to clear my head."Bakugou's scowl softened slightly, but he didn't lose the edge in his voice. "You need to pay more attention, Storm. Out here, you screw up, and it could cost you."
His words hit home, and Katana felt a pang of guilt. He was right-she had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings. But there was something else in his tone, something that sounded almost like concern.
Before she could dwell on it, Bakugou's expression hardened again. "You wanna clear your head? Fine. But don't drag me into your mess."
Katana bristled at his harshness, but instead of lashing out, she took a deep breath and forced herself to stay calm. "I didn't mean to," she said quietly, meeting his gaze. "I'll be more careful next time."
