Prologue
"I'm going to get some groceries dear," Brenda Cassinger said to her husband.
"Now?" He looked at the clock, "It's almost five-thirty!"
"I know, but if you want the family to be able to eat tomorrow I'm going to have to pick up a couple of things."
"Alright, but don't take long."

Six o'clock came and went. so did six-thirty. Then came seven o'clock. When the clock showed 7:15 Tom began to worry. It never took Brenda this long to take a trip to the grocery store. He tried calling her phone, but she wouldn't pick up. He began to panic. Not knowing what else to do, he quickly dialed 911.
"911 what is your emer--"
"--She's missing! She hasn't come home! I don't know were she is! I--"
"Sir, could you please tell me who exactly is missing?"
"It's my wife! She went grocery shopping almost two hours ago and hasn't come back!" He shouted hysterically.
"Okay, sir, could you please tell me your wife's name?"
"Brenda Cassinger."
"Okay, and can I please have your name?"
"Tom Cassinger."
"Okay, and may I have your address?"
"[__]"
"Okay, thank you sir. We are sending some officers to your home, but I need you to stay on the line with me until they arrive. I'm going to ask you a few more questions okay?"
"Okay"
"Have you been able to get in contact with her?"
"No!"
"Okay. Do you know what store she was going to before she left the house?"
"Um, well, no."
"Okay. Have you checked to see if her car is still in the driveway?"
"Um, no I didn't think to check that."
Tom slid open the back door and stepped outside. As he stepped of the porch, he could see his wife's car parked in the driveway, the driver's and passenger's side doors open. He also saw some grocery bags by the pool. It looked like they had been dropped, as a glass bottle in one of them was completely shattered. To add to the weirdness, some Amazon boxes and a plastic package were floating in the pool. The pool water was also cloudy as if someone had poured white powder in it.
This shocked him into silence.
"Are you still there, sir?"
"Y-yes."
"Okay, is her car there?"
"Y-yeah I--"
He was interrupted by the sound of sirens driving down the street getting closer. After a bit, two police cars pulled into his driveway.
"Are the officers there sir?"
He managed to choke out a "yes" as the officers stepped out of their cars.
Chapt. 2
The officers had been gone for about ten minutes, and Tom had settled down in an old lawn chair. The police would be back tomorrow to continue the search for Brenda, but it looked bleak.
The sun had just set, but the sky still had a few orange streaks left in it. The streaks slowly melted together with the darkened sky. Soon the only source of light was coming from his back porch.
Something moved in the bushes that separated his yard from the forest behind it. It was only slight, but enough to be noticed. He looked up and saw two eyes reflecting the light from the porch. They seemed to be starting straight at him. Thinking it was just an animal from the forest, he stayed put. It was from the forest, but it wasn't any animal he knew of. It stood on its two legs, slowly growing to its full height. A creature of about six feet and possibly more. He froze, terrified.
Its skin was hairy, and its arms long and fingers clawed and bony. Its head looked like the head of a huge deer; its antlers glistening in the faint moonlight, moss tangled in them. It wasn't a deer, it had fingers. It could stand up too. despite its size it was extremely scrawny. Bones jutted out from everywhere.
Out of nowhere, from his left, there was a terrible gurgling sound. Looking over, he noticed it was coming from the pool.
There were those strange packages. Amazon packages. Floating. How had they gotten there? Forgetting the "thing" in the bushes, he peered closer. They were there earlier, he just was too distracted and hadn't thought about how they had gotten into the pool.
Suddenly, all the noises stopped. The crickets stopped chirping, the owls stopped asking "Who?" and the gurgling had ceased. The only noise that could be heard was Tom's hyperventilating.
He turned his attention back to the "thing" in the bushes. He noticed something odd. It seemed to be wearing a shredded blue shirt? No. Vest. It was wearing a vest. On it, there was a small white symbol on the chest of the torn garment. It was the same symbol on the packages.
Tom didn't know what to think of this. He wanted to run, but his body wouldn't move. The gurgling started again. Looking over to the pool, he saw the water bubbling harshly. It hadn't done that before, what was going on?
Something white began to rise out of the water. It was a hand, and it was wearing a ring. Just before the elbow rose out of the water it violently grabbed at one of the packages floating in the water and brought it under.
Tom began to scream out of pure terror, thrashing about in his chair. He fell out of it and made a mad dash for the porch. When he got there, he turned around. He instantly regretted doing so, because when he did, he saw the creature moving towards him at an incredibly terrifying speed. He quickly slid open the door and slammed it shut behind him. The creature, not having enough time to stop, crashed into the glass door.
It didn't break, nor did it crack, much to Tom's surprise. When the creature recovered from this, it let out a fierce angry howl. With one last glare, the creature lumbered back into the forest with no injures except a wounded ego.
