Today was a good day for Aurora Wilde. Today she would see one of her best friends, Percy Weasley.
For Aurora, the summer of 1993 was her most boring summer yet as her three best friends had been busy for most of the holiday. Amelia Robinson went to America for the whole summer holiday with her parents; Oliver Wood was visiting relatives in Scotland or playing/watching quidditch. Percy had gone to see his eldest brother, Bill, in Egypt with his family.
Having no friends to meet up with normally makes the summer holidays boring.
We all sent each other as many letters as possible but different time zones and schedules meant the letters took ages to send and receive.
After wading through the many people on the streets of London, which is quite hard with large suitcases trailing behind her, she finally reached the pub she had been in so many times before—the Leaky Cauldron.
As she walked inside, the first thing her eyes were drawn to was the sea of redheads on the long table in the middle of the room. Aurora smiled as she approached the people she had grown to love over the years like a second family.
The Weasleys.
Molly Weasley, who had been the first to spot her walking in, swiftly walked over to the brunette.
"Oh, Aurora dear it's so lovely to see you again." Molly gave her a bone-crushing hug causing her to drop her bags before happily returning it, taking in Molly's calming scent as she sunk into the motherly hug.
"It's lovely to see you too Molly, I've missed you all so much."
A voice appeared from behind Mrs Weasley startling the younger girl a little. "Excuse me, Mother, she is my best friend after all."
Aurora pulled away from the hug just to be met with Percy Weasley. Molly moved out of the way and glared at Percy as she moved to smack his arm. "Don't be mean to your mum Perce."
"So sorry Rory," His tone dripped with sarcasm as he opened his arms as she moved forward into his embrace.
"I missed you Perce, and congrats on becoming head boy." Aurora muttered into his chest, feeling him puff out a sigh of contentment, "Missed you too and thanks".
After what felt like forever but was realistically just like 2 minutes they pulled away and she turned to the rest of the redheads who were all smiling at her. "Aurora!"
She looked over and spotted a small Ginny Weasley smiling back at her. Quickly making her way over, Aurora hugged her tight, "Hey Gin."
Aurora pulled away from the youngest Weasley, turning towards Mr Weasley to hug him, "Hello Arthur! How are you?"
"I'm fine thank you Rory." She pulled out of the hug and smiled warmly at the father of the siblings she held dear. She looked around and noticed the youngest Weasley boy and the twins weren't there. She barely had time to think about that before a flash of orange crossed her vision and she was almost knocked off her feet as something landed on her right shoulder.
"Crookshanks no! Merlin Aurora , I'm ever so sorry." This was the first time Aurora had spotted the brown-haired girl.
"Oh please don't worry Hermione it's completely fine. Hello sweetheart." Aurora said cooing slightly to talk to the cat whilst stroking it.
Mrs Weasley then spoke up. "I think it would be wise for you to put your stuff upstairs in the room dear, you can place your stuff in with Ginny and Hermione's."
"Thank you, Molly." Aurora lifted her suitcase off the floor and started to drag it up the stairs toward her room. She walked along the corridor, greeting the cleaning lady as they passed.
