CHAPTER 19
└───❀*̥˚───❀*̥˚┘Meanwhile here in the Hospital,
NAINIKA
I slumped into my chair, exhaustion pressing down on me after attending back-to-back patients. I rested my head back, closing my eyes for a moment to collect my thoughts. The tension from last night still lingered heavily in my mind.
The knock on the door made me open my eyes, pulling me back into the present.
Nainika: "Come in."
The door creaked open, and my heart sank when I saw Reyansh step inside, a lunch box in his hand. His expression was calm, but there was a hint of something deeper something I couldn't quite place.
Reyansh: "It's lunchtime. Let's eat."
I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes at him.
Nainika: "I'm not hungry."
We always had lunch together. But today, the anger from last night still simmered beneath the surface, and I wasn't ready to forgive him.
Reyansh: "We always have lunch together. Don't let last night ruin that."
I clenched my jaw, unwilling to let go of my anger so easily. But before I could tell him to leave he set the lunch box down on my desk and moved toward me, kneeling in front of my chair. His hands found mine, his touch warm and gentle, and he kissed my knuckles softly.
Reyansh: (softly) "Nainika, give me a chance to explain."
His voice was low, almost pleading. I hated how easily he could disarm me with a touch, a word. Reluctantly, I nodded, pulling my hands away from his grasp.
Nainika: "Fine. Explain."
FLASHBACK
(Yesterday Morning)The morning had started off on the wrong foot. We had argued, a heated exchange that left me fuming. Reyansh left the house without a word, and I had stormed off to the hospital.
I had barely settled into my office when I overheard a conversation between two nurses about the medical conference We had to attend. My stomach twisted as I realized he had gone without me. The conference was something we had planned to attend together.
Just then the shocking revelation made me more upset that he hadn't gone alone, he took her with him.
Richa Rawal.
(Just if you don't remember Richa Rawal is Mr Rawal's daughter, who is a buisness partner of the Rathore's from a long time)Just the thought of her name made my blood boil. She had always hovered around Reyansh, that woman thinks the world owed her something, particularly when it came to him. She had joined the hospital only a few days ago that too because she was Mr Rawal's daughter otherwise she lacked everything and especially when it comes to professionalism and respect, always going around with her bratty behaviour causing chaos.
But the thing that disheartened me more was that how dare he take her. Even if we had a fight he couldn't just take her instead of me knowing her intentions towards him very well.
FLASHBACK END
I pulled my hands from his again, crossing my arms tightly over my chest.
Nainika: (sharply) "You took her with you instead of me just because of a fight. What was I supposed to think?"
Reyansh sighed, his fingers running through his hair.
