Isabel had disappeared. It wasn't so much that she had run out of the room. In fact, Avery was sure that she hadn't. It was more that she was there one moment and then gone the next. All at once, the attention in the room reverted back to Avery. Grayson's features had softened slightly when Mr Ortega had given the news of Isabel's stipulation, but he seamlessly regained his composure and turned to Avery. She found herself at the end of his icy stare, any warmth that might have existed before vanished, relaxed by the cold silver of his eyes: she found it unnerving, how he could transition so quickly. While it seemed that he held sympathy for Isabel, their history unknown, he held none for her. She only had Libby, and something told her that wouldn't help when she was against people where power was in their nature.

This was going to be a long day.
