The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

The mid-May sun cast a warm, golden hue over the Harding Farm, its rays beginning to chase away the last remnants of the cool morning air. The humidity was already thickening, promising the kind of sweltering heat typical of central Oklahoma. Jessica Harding wiped her brow with the back of her hand as she finished up her morning chores. The fields stretched out in front of her, a patchwork of greens and browns under the bright sky.

She was just closing the gate to the pasture when the familiar crunch of tires on gravel caught her attention. Glancing up, she squinted against the sun to see a white truck rolling up the driveway. Her heart sank as she noticed the logo on the side: "Storm Par." Instinctively, Jess braced herself for the encounter. Another salesman peddling storm insurance–just what she didn't need today.

Determined not to waste time with a pitch she wasn't interested in, she wiped her hands on her jeans and started walking toward the approaching vehicle. As she neared the truck, she prepared to brush off the salesman with a polite but firm refusal. But her resolve faltered the moment the truck door swung open and out stepped a face she hadn't seen in years.

"Javi?" Her eyes widened in surprise.

Javi Rivera, with his familiar warm smile and easygoing demeanor, stepped out of the truck. His dark curly hair was now cut short, and his eyes sparkled with the same infectious enthusiasm she remembered. Before she could fully process the surprise, Jess found herself rushing toward him.

"Jess!" Javi exclaimed as she closed the distance between them. The two embraced in a heartfelt hug, their laughter mingling with the sounds of the farm. For a brief moment, it was as if no time had passed at all.

"It's so good to see you!" Jess said, pulling back to look at him. "What are you doing here?"

Javi answered with a grin. "I'm here on business. Of course, I couldn't come all this way without seeing you first."

"What kind of business are you doing now?"

"I'm back in the storm chasing game. We've got a big project we're working on, and I want you to join the team."

Jess's expression shifted as she shook her head. "I've left that world behind, Javi. I don't chase anymore."

Before Javi could respond, the front door of the farmhouse creaked open, and Bill and Jo Harding stepped out onto the porch. Their faces lit up with recognition when they saw Javi.

"Well, I'll be," Bill exclaimed, striding over with a wide grin. "Javi, it's been too long!"

Jo followed closely, her eyes twinkling with warmth. "Javi, what a surprise! How have you been?"

Javi returned their smiles, giving Bill a firm handshake and Jo a warm hug. "It's great to see you both! I've been busy, but it's good to be back in Oklahoma."

Jessica, feeling the mix of affection and exasperation at her parents' enthusiasm, interjected, "Javi was just leaving, actually."

Jo shook her head, her tone leaving no room for argument as she said, "Nonsense. I've got lunch in the oven, and it's almost ready. It's not every day we get a visit from an old friend."

Bill nodded in agreement. "Come on in, Javi. We'd love to hear what you've been up to since we saw you."

Jessica sighed, knowing she wouldn't win this fight, and motioned for Javi to follow her. "Alright, come on. Let's get inside. You know I'll never win this fight with them."

Javi stepped into the old farmhouse, a nostalgic smile spreading across his face. "Wow, Jess, it's like stepping back in time. Look's like nothing's changed at all."
