As I stepped through the door, panic struck me, blurring my vision. A narrow hallway stretched across the other side of the room. A line of doors ran across the walls. There must be around forty, if not, more doors altogether. A picture of a skull appeared on the face of the bracelet. The beeping from our bracelets filled the empty hallway behind the number [5] door.
"Shit, where is the DEAD?" said Nishiyoya-san, searching frantically around the area we are in. I can hear the panic in his voice.
"Don't tell me it is in one of the rooms here?" said Asahi-san, his voice shaking.
The door slammed shut behind us.
"We don't have much time left. Let's search all the rooms for it," said Sawamura-san, already running to open the doors.
"Are you serious? All these rooms?" I said, chasing after him.
I grabbed onto a handle to one of the many doors within the hallway. I tried to push it open, but it was locked. I approached another door. It was also locked.
"These doors are locked!" I yelled, to make sure that everyone that were scattered around could hear me.
"These doors are locked too!" replied Nishiyoya-san a moment later.
I continued down the hallway, checking each door as a ran past.
Shit. Why are they all locked? Where the heck is the DEAD?
My bracelet continued to beep. My heart was pounding against my chest. I feel like it is going to burst any second. I am so nervous and scared that I lost track of the time. It seems like it's been well over a minute and a half, but miraculously, I am still alive. As I ran closer towards the end of the hallway, I saw a door that is a different colour to the other doors. This strange door does not look as grand as the rest of the doors in the hallway. Instead, this is just a plain, old wooden door that you would see in an abandoned cottage. In addition to the door, I saw a blue device.
Blue.
That must be the DEAD! I raced towards where the DEAD was located. The more closer I am to it, the more apparent it is.
"Guys! I found it! Hurry and come over here!" I yelled.
I turned my head slightly to see that they are following me. The beeping continued, echoing through the empty hallway. Sweat was trickling down my face, my legs felt so weak that I thought I was going to collapse any minute now.
Just a little bit more...
I ran right past the device and slammed my hand on the scanner. I heard a beep. I quickly turned around and placed my hand on the lever.
"Hurry up guys!" I said, beckoning them to run faster.
The three of them slammed their hands on the scanner consecutively, and after the fourth asterisk appeared, I pulled the lever. The red light on the device turned blue and the skull that was on the face of the bracelet disappeared. The beeping also ceased. My legs finally gave way and I collapsed right in front of the wooden door, gasping for air.
