I start walking. Away from him. My head is swimming in millions of directions, and I just can't keep up anymore. You'd think the devil is lying but he actually doesn't lie. However, whatever that just came out of his mouth seemed bizzare than anything I've ever heard before. My heart is hammering against my chest. Where am I going anyways? My house is on the other direction. Lucifer is in front of me in seconds, blocking my path. I'm not even startled by his super sonic speed anymore.

"Rose. You going to run from the truth?"

"You just told me I'm half-demon. What am I supposed to do with that knowledge?" I half scowl. Lucifer smiles in the dark.

"Okay, Rose. Sleep on it. Let me know when you want to know more about yourself." And just like that, he disappears into thin air, leaving nothing behind. Not even his usual warmth. I walk back towards the path of my house with a headacne brewing from literally Hell.

The night drags on. I am tossing and turning and for the life of me, I cannot close my eyes no matter how tired I am. I know why sleep isn't catching up to me. My mind is still running a million miles an hour, and the only way to stop it is with answers I am desperately seeking no matter how bitter they sound. I sit up on the bed and clutch my forehead as a wave of nausea hits me.

"Lucifer," I croak.

"Rose," he says from behind me, lacing his fingers around my waist and pulling me flush to him. The close contact knocks the breath out of me and I gasp, my body completely frozen. This is the first time I ever came in close contact with him like this, and it feels deadly. I want to scream but all that comes out of my mouth is a sigh. Why can't I push him away? Why can't I scream?

"You and I both know why, Rose," he whispers into my ear, answering my unspoken questions. A comfortable warmth envelopes me. It's warm for me but hot for the water to be boiling at close contact of Lucifer.

"What are you doing?" The tone of my voice drops to a whisper just like his. The room is starting to feel different now. Electric. Warm. Sinful.

"Here to give you some answers."

"Like this?"

"Your heart is spiking, dangerously. You need to calm down, Rose, before you give yourself a heart attack."

"Wouldn't you like that?"

"Would you? It's a one way ticket to Hell." My skin pales at his relevation. So, I was never destined for Heaven after all. Great. I should be pushing him off of me, and screaming bloody hell out the door but for some reason...I'm unable to move a muscle.

"Tell me about my mother. Tell me about...me." I touch the skin of his knuckles. I think I'm going crazy. Or maybe he's doing something to me on purpose. I immediately retract my fingers as if if I've touched something unforbidden. I did. Lucifer's warmth leaves me as he circles around to face me.

"You want the long version or short?" He asks, actually giving me a choice to choose from for once. I purse my lips and ponder for a minute. The silence in between us is deadly for a minute.

"Shorter version." Lucifer gives me a ghost of a smile, flicks his nose and looks me dead in the eyes. My heart starts going absolutely crazy against my ribcage again, and sweat starts to bead on my skin.
