"So... you're our... guardian angel?" Aaron's voice was hesitant as if he were still grappling with the absurdity of the situation.
Malak's response was quick, almost rehearsed. "Lightguider—and we're not angels, but we are guardians. Think of us as... divine messengers. Guides. We provide counseling and protection to good witches. Like you three."

Alex, who had been leaning against the kitchen counter, arms crossed, entered the conversation. "And now that she's gone... so too is the spell she used to bind our powers?" His voice was measured, but there was an underlying urgency in his words, a need to understand the implications of their mother's death.
Malak nodded again, but this time his expression grew more serious. "Pretty much," he said, then hesitated. "Although... it wasn't just that."

Andrew's gaze intensified, as if willing Alex to understand the gravity of their new reality. "We're witches, Alex. We have powers."
Alex stopped, his eyes locking onto Andrew's with a look of reluctant resignation. "Well, unless that's going to pay our bills, it's gonna have to go on hold," he replied, his tone pragmatic and unyielding.

"Okay, let's see here..." he murmured, scanning the text. "So according to this, the symbol is called a triquetra. It apparently means 'three-cornered.' The meaning varies in different religions and cultures, but the concept of interconnectedness and infinity seems to be the foundation for all groups."

Aaron smiled, but his expression turned more thoughtful as he continued. "When they broke up in college, something changed between them. To this day, I don't know why they broke up."
Andrew's smile faded slightly, replaced by a pensive look. "I don't know... I think they'll find their way to each other again."

Eric didn't immediately respond. He reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a photograph. His hand hovered for a moment, hesitation flickering in his eyes, but he quickly steeled himself, knowing he had no choice. He handed the photo over to the man.
"Hello to you too Caleb." He crosses his arms. "This next one will be tricky and not your usual prey," Eric warned, his tone serious.

"No idea, but I found it on the side porch, and it was really friendly," Aaron replied, his voice lightening as he crouched to scoop up the cat. He cradled it in his arms, a wide grin spreading across his face—a look that Alex knew all too well.
"Oh no, I know what that face means," Alex groaned, shaking his head. "Aaron, we don't need another mouth to feed."
But Aaron's grin only widened as he held the cat closer, determined to make his case. "Well, don't worry, because guess who's the new barback at True North!"
~
"By the power of three times three, I cast this spell, so mote it be, Warlocks dark, you're banished from sight, No harm shall come day or night, With light and love, this ward I place, Protected we are, in every space."
The flame crawled along the twine, slowly advancing toward the copper bowl. When it reached the bowl, the smoke that rose from the flame began to swirl, twisting in the air as if guided by some unseen force.
~
Andrew snapped out of the vision with a gasp, panic rising in his throat. "Shit. SHIT. It didn't work!"
