Paige couldn't contain her excitement as she boarded the plane to Virginia, clutching a bouquet of Azzi's favorite flowers and a pink basket filled with all the little gifts she knew Azzi loved. It was Valentine's Day, and while Paige insisted it was a platonic gesture, deep down, there was something more. Paige didn't tell Azzi she was coming wanting to surprised her so before her improve plane ride she had texted azzi's dad, Tim who was happy to pick her up to the airport knowing his daughter at home will be more than pleased to see her best friend after months of not seeing each other. Knowing she's been missing Paige this couple of months. The plane ride felt like an eternity to Paige. She replayed the moment she would see Azzi over and over in her mind, wondering how Azzi would react to her surprise visit. She had meticulously planned every detail, from the flowers to the assortment of gifts in the basket. There were chocolates, a few of Azzi's favorite books, some cozy socks, and even a small, delicate pandora bracelet that Paige had picked out weeks ago. Each item was chosen with care, reflecting the deep bond they shared. When the plane finally touched down in Virginia, Paige's heart raced with anticipation. She quickly grabbed her luggage and the carefully prepared basket, making her way to Azzi's house. The winter air was crisp, and snowflakes began to fall gently as she approached the front door. Tim promised her that Azzi was in her room as he got a confirmation text from his wife, while opening the front door. Page walked into the leaving room leaving her luggage there while hugging Katie, before she mentioned for her to head to Azzi's bedroom door. With a deep breath, Paige knocked at Azzi's bedroom door, her heart pounding in her chest. Azzi opened the door, her eyes widening in shock and delight. "Paige! What are you doing here?" she exclaimed, her voice a mix of surprise and happiness."Happy Valentine's Day, Azzi!" Paige said, grinning from ear to ear. She handed Azzi the bouquet and the basket, watching as her friend's face lit up with joy.Azzi's eyes sparkled as she took the gifts. "You didn't have to do all this," she said, her voice softening."But I'm so glad you did."Paige shrugged, trying to play it cool. "I just wanted to surprise you. I know how much you love these things."They both laughed, but there was an underlying tension, a sense of something unspoken between them. Azzi's family, who had been watching from the living room, exchanged knowing glances. They saw through the "platonic" facade, recognizing the deeper feelings that Paige and Azzi had for each other. As the evening went on, the two friends caught up, sharing stories and laughter. They sat by the fireplace, sipping hot cocoa and enjoying each other's company. Azzi couldn't stop smiling, touched by Paige's thoughtful gesture. She felt a warmth in her heart, though she couldn't quite put it into words what that warm feeling might be or if she did she chose to push it way behind in the back of her head.Paige, on the other hand, felt a mix of emotions. She was thrilled to be with Azzi, but there was also a flutter of nervousness. She wondered if Azzi felt the same butterflies she feels when they're in close proximity. At one point, Azzi reached into the basket and pulled out the ring box containing a rose gold crown ring."Paige, this is beautiful. Thank you." Paige blushed, her heart skipping a beat. "I'm glad you like it. It reminded me of you, princess." Azzi smiled at the new nickname, slipping the ring onto her index finger."I'll cherish it, always." As the night drew to a close, Paige and Azzi found themselves sitting closer together, their shoulders touching. There was a comfortable silence between them, filled with unspoken words and emotions. They both knew that their bond was special, even if they couldn't fully understand or acknowledge the depth of their feelings. When it was time for Paige to get ready for bed, Azzi left her in the room to change into her pajamas while she went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Once she was done, they exchanged places, passing by each other with Paige's fingers gently brushing Azzi's waist, a tender and loving touch that sent a warm flutter through Azzi's heart. They both laid in bed, the room filled with a comfortable silence. Azzi turned to Paige and whispered, "Thank you for the best Valentine's Day ever." Paige smiled, her heart full. "Anytime, Azzi. Anytime." As they drifted off to sleep with a smile on their faces.
