I walked home, feeling all tired. The day was so long, and all I wanted was to be in my room. When I got inside, the house was all quiet, like it always is. I kicked off my shoes and went straight to the kitchen, opening the fridge and looking inside. But there wasn't anything good.
"Nothing here," I whispered to myself, closing the door. I wasn't really hungry anyway, just... tired. So I went upstairs to my room, where Pancake was waiting for me.
When I opened the door, I saw Pancake sitting on my pillow, just like I left him. My blanket was all soft and ready for me too. I walked over and picked up Pancake, hugging him close. He was so soft, and his fur tickled my cheek just right.
"Hi, Pancake," I whispered, feeling a little better now that I was with him. I climbed onto my bed, pulling my blanket around me and holding Pancake tight.
"Wanna play a game?" I asked him, even though I knew he couldn't answer. I grabbed my controller and turned on the TV, picking the game I always play. It's a fun game, with bright colors and happy music, and it makes me feel better.
I started playing, but after a while, I felt my thumb slipping into my mouth. It was okay, though. It felt nice and made me feel safe. I hugged Pancake closer, the game still playing on the screen, but my mind was getting fuzzy and sleepy.
I played for a bit longer, but soon I wasn't really paying attention to the game anymore. I put the controller down and looked at Pancake, his big eyes looking back at me. "What should we do now?" I asked him, my voice getting smaller.
I knew what I wanted. I wanted my paci and my blanket. So I climbed off the bed and went over to my box, the one where I keep my special things. I opened it and took out my paci, holding it in my hands for a moment before I popped it into my mouth. It felt good, like I could finally relax.
Next, I grabbed my favorite blanket. It's all soft and cozy, with frayed edges from where I've held it so much. I wrapped it around my shoulders, feeling warm and safe. Then I went back to my bed, climbing under the covers and curling up with Pancake and my paci.
I sucked on my paci, the soothing feeling making me feel smaller, like I didn't have to worry about anything. I snuggled deeper into my blanket, holding Pancake close to my chest. The game was still on, but I wasn't really watching it anymore. I just wanted to be here, with my blanket and Pancake.
"Wanna play?" I asked Pancake, pulling him off my chest and holding him in front of me. I giggled as I made him bounce on the bed, pretending he was hopping around. "Look, Pancake, you're so bouncy!" I made him hop from one pillow to another, his soft body flopping with each pretend jump.
I rolled onto my back, holding Pancake up in the air. "You're flying now!" I giggled again, moving him around like he was soaring through the room. "Weee!" I kept playing like this, making up little stories about Pancake going on adventures, like exploring my room or finding hidden treasures under the pillows.
After a while, I brought Pancake back down to my chest, snuggling him close. "You're my best friend," I whispered around my paci, my voice all soft and quiet. I stroked his fur, feeling safe and happy with him by my side.
The room started getting darker as the sun went down, but it didn't bother me. I liked it when it was darker. It made everything feel even cozier. I yawned, feeling my eyes get heavy, and I snuggled deeper into my bed.
Everything was nice and warm. My blanket, my paci, and Pancake made me feel safe. I didn't have to think about anything. I just felt sleepy, and that was okay.
"I'm okay," I whispered to Pancake, my voice getting sleepy. "I'm safe."
And with that, I closed my eyes, letting sleep take over, feeling all warm and snuggly in my bed, with Pancake right there with me.
