EMILY'S POV
I woke up to the warm sunlight peeking through my window, casting a golden glow on my cozy bedroom. I stretched, feeling the softness of my duvet and the comfort of my plush pillows. After a good yawn, I threw off the covers and swung my legs over the side of the bed.
My feet dangled in the air as I sat there for a moment, taking in the quiet of the morning. I loved this time of day, before the hustle and bustle of the world outside began.
I slipped out of bed and padded over to my closet, where I selected a comfortable pair of jeans and a soft white blouse. I dressed quickly, then moved on to my morning routine.
In the bathroom, I turned on the faucet and let the warm water fill the tub. I added some bubbles and essential oils, then sank in with a contented sigh. The warmth enveloped me, and I closed my eyes, letting the stress of the day melt away.
As I soaked, I thought about the day ahead. I had a busy schedule at the bakery, with new employees to train and a special order to fill. But I was looking forward to it. I loved my job, and I was proud of what I had built.
After my bath, I got out and dried off, then styled my hair and applied a light layer of makeup. I slipped on my favorite apron, the one with the colorful sprinkles, and headed downstairs to start my day.
I arrived at the bakery, the sweet aroma of freshly baked goods enveloping me like a warm hug. My team was already busy prepping for the day, and I smiled as I saw the new hires, Jack and Lily, expertly piping icing onto a batch of cupcakes.
Sarah, my best friend and head decorator, caught my eye and grinned. "Morning, boss!" she said, winking.
I chuckled and made my way over to her. "Morning, Sarah. How's it going?"
"It's going great," she replied, holding up a stunning cake adorned with sugar flowers. "I'm working on this beauty for the Johnson wedding."
I admired the cake, then turned my attention to the rest of the bakery. The display cases were filled with an assortment of treats, from classic cookies and brownies to elaborate pastries and cakes.
My office, tucked away in the back, was a cozy space filled with recipe books, baking supplies, and a large desk where I could work on orders and menus. I spent a few minutes reviewing the day's schedule and responding to emails before heading out to help the team.
Just as we were getting into the swing of things, the doorbell above the entrance to the bakery jangled, signaling the arrival of a delivery. I looked up to see a courier holding a large bouquet of flowers, a shoe box, a dress box, and a small jewelry box.
"Emily Wilson?" he asked, scanning the room.
I nodded, curious, and he handed me the delivery. "Sign here, please."
I signed, and he left. I turned my attention to the mysterious packages. Who could be sending me such extravagant gifts?
I opened the card attached to the bouquet, and my heart skipped a beat as I saw Leon's name. The message was simple yet elegant: "To a beautiful woman, inside and out. Would you do me the honor of joining me for dinner on Friday night?"
I felt a flutter in my chest as I read the words. Leon was asking me out on a date!
I looked at the other gifts, my curiosity piqued. The shoe box was from designer brand Jimmy Choo, and inside, I found a stunning pair of silver stilettos. The dress box was from Oscar de la Renta, and when I opened it, I gasped at the gorgeous red gown inside.
The jewelry box was from Tiffany & Co., and it contained a beautiful silver necklace with a small crystal pendant. I felt like I was dreaming - who sends such extravagant gifts?
Sarah noticed my stunned expression and came over to investigate. "What's going on?" she asked, eyeing the gifts.
I showed her the card and the gifts, and she squealed with excitement. "Oh my god, Emily! Leon is totally into you!"
I blushed, feeling a mix of emotions. I was thrilled at the prospect of a date with Leon, but also a little intimidated by the lavish gifts.
"What do I do?" I asked Sarah, seeking her advice.
"You say yes, of course!" she replied, grinning. "And you wear that stunning red dress and those Jimmy Choos. You'll knock his socks off!"
I laughed, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation.
I sat down at my desk, still feeling a little dazed from the surprise gifts. I picked up the phone and dialed Leon's number, my heart beating with excitement.
He answered on the first ring, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine. "Hey, Emily. I hope you liked the gifts."
"I loved them," I replied, trying to sound calm. "Thank you so much, Leon. You didn't have to do that."
"I wanted to," he said, his tone sincere. "I'm just glad you liked them. So, will you join me for dinner on Friday night?"
I smiled, feeling a sense of joy. "Yes, I'd love to," I said, trying to sound casual.
"Great," he replied, sounding pleased. "I'll pick you up at 7pm. And Emily?"
"Yes?"
"Wear the red dress," he said, his voice low and husky.
I laughed, feeling a flutter in my chest. "I think I can manage that."
As we said our goodbyes, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. Friday night couldn't come soon enough.
I hung up the phone and leaned back in my chair, a happy sigh escaping my lips. Who knew that a simple phone call could make my day so much brighter?
After the phone call with Leon, I felt so much alive. I finished up the rest of my workday, but my mind kept wandering back to Friday night and our dinner date.
As the evening drew to a close, I said goodnight to Sarah and the rest of the team, and headed home. The drive was quiet, with only my thoughts to keep me company.
When I arrived home, I went through my usual night routine. I changed into comfortable pajamas, brushed my teeth, and washed my face. Then, I settled into bed with a good book, trying to distract myself from thoughts of Leon.
But it was no use. My mind kept drifting back to him, wondering what Friday night would bring. Would we hit it off? Would there be sparks?
Eventually, my eyelids grew heavy, and I drifted off to sleep, dreams of Leon dancing in my head.
As I snuggled under the covers, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. I couldn't wait to see what the future held, and I knew that Friday night was just the beginning.
With a happy sigh, I fell into a deep sleep, the softness of my pillow cradling my head, and the darkness of the night enveloping me in peace.
