Please make the pain stop, I say to myself.

A cough escapes my throat. The oxygen failing to enter my lungs, as his hands wrap tightly around my neck. Tighter they hold me, causing my eyes to roll back. My legs pushed against his body, with all the strength left within me. Yet, I continue to struggle to get away from him.

I look at his face, my eyes begging him to let me go.

Just let me go...

His eyes are what terrify me the most. You see their coldness, their hate, and his emotionless soul right through them. I feel him moving me against the wall. He grins with pleasure as I struggle to breathe. A short chuckle escapes his lips, for he knew my sudden end was near.

God how he reeks of alcohol.

I use the last of my existing strength to kick him in the stomach but I was unsuccessful. He's too strong for me. I feel my face is turning purple.

My sister Rain is finally awakening from the blow he gave her earlier into the night. As she rises from the floor, and looks at the scene in horror. I look at her quickly with tears in my eyes. She looks around the room, desperately for something. Eying the vase on the coffee table, she grabs it.

"I can't wait until I see your lifeless b-", he says right before Rain swings the vase at his head, knocking him out unconscious.

I gasp desperately for air. The oxygen stinging my lungs—only lasting for a quick moment before relief filled my bones. Rain takes my hand and rushes up the stairs.

"Come on we don't have much time! He could wake up any second!", Rain hisses.

We both head toward the hallway wall and take out one of the loose wooden boards. We lay the board aside and both get in. I quickly put the board back in its place and sat next to Rain in the small wooden space.

I can't wait to get out of here Rain, I sign to her.

"Me too," she says weakly.

Why? Does he does this to us?

" I don't—shit," she stops mid-sentenced.

We hear his footsteps as he walks through the hallway. The sound of his boots hitting the wooden floors, only increased my anxiety. I know he can smell us, I know he knows we are somewhere here, but I doubt he knows our exact position. He continuously walks back and fourth in the hallway, stopping every now and then.

Ever since mother left he's been this way. One small thing sets him off and he takes it out on us. I never understood why she didn't take us with her, and I hate her for it.

I feel tears running down my cheeks as I hugged Rain. We hear him walking down the hallway to go back down the stairs. I let out a sigh of relief.

"Should we get out?" Rain asks.

I look at her with wide eyes. My hands waving and moving harshly as I signed, No! Are you crazy? We won't make it! We should stay here until morning.
