Its been a few weeks since i got the news and i havent really mentioned or thought about the concert until one of my friends brings it up at lunch. "You know, my neighbor is going to the one distraction concert here in Kentucky!" My friend Erica isnt really a BIG fan, atleast she says she isnt. She is pretty invested tho, like she could go on and on about the meaning of their songs or fun facts about their band. Her fyp is filled with those "did you know..." videos. My other friends are more like me, when it comes to our opinion on one distraction. We often make fun of her for almost being obsessed like my little sister, despite what she says. "Im like kinda jealous, you know." Us others at the table look at each other and jokingly roll our eyes. "What guys! Its not like id actually go. But its kinda a flex." I sigh, "yeah well, i have to go too..." "What do you mean?" "Youre not seriously going, right?" Jackie and Candice ask. "My sister and her friends need someone to watch them, and my mom picked me of course!" "No way! How have you not told us before?" "I dont know haha. I didnt think its that big of a deal. Im just gonna make sure they dont get trampled over." "I dont blame your mom, i wouldnt let my child near one of those crazy people!" We all laugh. Erica looks confused but also excited at the same time. "What do you mean 'no big deal'? I think we can all agree that this is like the biggest deal of the country right now. At least for girls our age." "I guess its pretty cool, i dont know.." "Okay but what are you gonna wear?" Ericas eyes are glowing "I dont know?" Okay obviously i knew that this is a big concert, but i didnt think the outfits were that important? "Outfits are everything! I mean think of the Periods Tour by Taylor Smith! Youre gonna wanna come to me after class." "True, its getting late, lets go..." We all take our bags and split up to go to our next class. As im walking i realize what is actually happening. Im getting excited? Part of me is saying "Duh, didnt you hear what Erica said? Plus youve known this was a big thing, be excited!" But the other half still plays it cool, im still not a fan.
After an hour of continuously zoning out and scribbling on my paper, the bell finally rings. I quickly stuff my books into my backpack and make my way to my locker. My frown slowly fades as i realize that Mrs. Peters didnt give us any homework, like she usually does. As i slam my locker door closed it reveals Erica patiently waiting beside me. I scream (since she scared me), then giggle since the whole hallway probably heard me. "Geez, didn't have to scare me like that!" "Sorry, im just really excited!" She comes closer to me and whispers: "Dont tell the others, but im so happy for you. I think One Distraction is really cool!" I smirk since its really no surprise to anyone, then nod. "So, whats up?" "Do you have time to call? I can send you a pinterest board i made!" You gotta be kidding me. "Theres no way you actually did that." "Look, my cousin and i like to talk about them, anyway! Call me when you get home." "Ok, but please promise me that this wont take an hour." "Yeah yeah, dont worry!" She waves goodbye and skips off. My phone vibrates, so i look at my lock screen expecting my mom to have texted me. But no, its my sister sending me pictures. Spamming actually. Whats this now? Oh my, not her too. Shes spamming me with outfit ideas!
At home i call Erica like promised. Hopefully she keeps her promise too. "Hey girl, ready to see the board."
We talk for about twenty minutes, although most of it was just gossip, only to come to the conclusion that i dont really own any fitting clothes. "Thank you Erica for your help. I think ill just pick something out. I wann be myself!" "Okay yeah, but dont stand out too much." "I just cant help it." We both laugh, but i am serious, theres just something about my aura... "Okay bye!" I hang up the call and look over to my bed covered in clothes. I dont need to pick something out now... Im actually getting kinda hungry!
