Yeonjun pocketed Beomgyu's phone, pretending to inspect it further while his thoughts swirled. He had noticed something subtle in those photos—something no other officer might have picked up on. But for now, he kept that revelation to himself.
"Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Choi," Yeonjun said, his voice steady, though he couldn't resist the magnetic pull he felt toward the younger man.
Beomgyu's eyes sparkled mischievously as he leaned closer, his shoulder brushing lightly against Yeonjun's. "Anything for you, Officer," he purred, his lips curving into a flirtatious smile. The words, although innocent, carried a weight of intent that made Yeonjun's heart skip a beat.
Suppressing the urge to react, Yeonjun focused on the task at hand. "We'll need to take a closer look at the places you mentioned earlier," he said, keeping his tone professional. "And I might need to see that room with the medicines."
"Of course," Beomgyu replied, his voice dripping with a sultry undertone. "I'd be happy to show you around, Officer Choi. After all, you're just doing your job." His hand lingered on Yeonjun's arm a moment too long, sending an electric jolt through the detective.
Yeonjun clenched his jaw, forcing his mind to stay on track. The case was delicate, and Beomgyu's brazen attempts to distract him weren't helping. But the attraction was undeniable, and it simmered beneath the surface, waiting for an opportunity to break free.
They made their way to the room in question, Beomgyu walking ahead, his hips swaying slightly in that tantalizing maroon dress. Yeonjun tried not to watch, but his eyes betrayed him. The delicate fabric clung to Beomgyu's form, every movement an invitation.
When they reached the room, Beomgyu opened the door and gestured for Yeonjun to enter first. "After you, Detective," he whispered, his breath ghosting over Yeonjun's ear.
Yeonjun stepped inside, forcing himself to focus. The room was lined with shelves, each stocked with various bottles and boxes. His eyes immediately went to the medicine cabinet—where he'd noticed something peculiar in the photos. He approached it, opening the door with careful precision.
As he scanned the contents, Beomgyu moved closer, standing so near that Yeonjun could feel the warmth radiating from his body. "Find what you're looking for?" Beomgyu asked, his voice soft and teasing.
Yeonjun's fingers brushed against a small vial tucked behind a row of more common medications. It was a nearly empty bottle, labeled with a substance that could easily be fatal in the right dosage. His heart raced as he pulled it out, examining the label closely. This was the clue he'd spotted in the photo—a faint smudge that indicated the vial had been handled recently, possibly by someone in a hurry.
He turned to Beomgyu, who was watching him intently, those big, innocent eyes masking the flirtation underneath. "Do you recognize this?" Yeonjun asked, holding up the vial.
Beomgyu's eyes flicked to the bottle, then back to Yeonjun's face. "It's one of his medicines," he said smoothly. "I used to give it to him whenever he felt unwell."
Yeonjun narrowed his eyes. "It's potent stuff. Even a small amount could be dangerous."
Beomgyu took a step closer, his lips curling into a sly smile. "Why, Officer Choi, are you suggesting that I might have used it on him?"
Yeonjun felt a spark of something between them—something more than just the tension of the investigation. "I'm suggesting that I need to keep digging," he replied, his voice low.
Beomgyu reached out, his hand brushing against Yeonjun's chest as he adjusted the detective's tie with a playful flick of his fingers. "Dig all you want," he whispered, leaning in so close that their lips were nearly touching. "But be careful, Detective. You might not like what you find."
