Choi Beomgyu is a princess.

The only daughter of a renowned businessman, heiress to an internationally-recognized conglomerate. Modern royalty with all the attention drawn to her, spoiled to the depths of her family's riches — her parents treat her like their most precious treasure, her older brothers like she's the most important responsibility. Even the university she attends had proclaimed her as their sweetheart — with a fan club of her own and admirers waiting for her in the halls, every professor's favorite student and every student's favorite muse.

She has everything anyone could ever want to be, or be with. The ideal girl voted by majority, idolized and admired. Because she's nice and sweet and smart, popular and pretty and beautiful.

Her taste in men though? Awful.

Because of all the millionaire suitors and handsome varsity players, she chose Choi Yeonjun as the lucky winner for a date. One date too much, one date after the other.

They remember the event all too well. Had been the school's highlight story for at least a week, the main topic of gossips and conversations between students and staff alike. Its impact was so big it left a phantom crater, a permanent mark in their university lives.

It was a regular day, not too bright and not too cloudy. No special occasion in the calendar of activities.

Beomgyu was sitting on a picnic blanket under a tree's shade, with her group of friends having a girls' talk — all things astrology and fiction books, to be specific — when Yeonjun walked in the scene.

No one would really notice him, tending to be avoidant of the intimidating male. What caught their attention, however, is the huge bouquet of red roses and an equally huge stuffed teddy bear in both of his arms, heading in the direction of Beomgyu's group.

She noticed him, doe eyes full of wonder at who he was interested in. Each of her girls were murmuring and squealing because admittedly, Yeonjun was the most attractive man around, and he was heading their way, for a girl of his pick, hoping it was them.

But he was only looking at Beomgyu. Eyes set on his target like a predator to mate. Confirmed when he stops right in front of her and—

Got down to one knee, like a knight to his princess, so he could see her face-to-face.

"Hi Beomgyu," Yeonjun greets her, the nervousness in his system masked by faux confidence. He nears his gifts toward her and looked her straight in the eyes, "I like you. Can I take you out on a date?"

His confession was simple. No poetic letters or grand schemes, just his sincerity and affections for the girl of his dreams. The gifts are expensive and he knows she knows this, had seen those same brands over and over again; but Yeonjun knows, deep inside of him, he has something more he could give. Something that her other suitors could never offer.
